Like millions of other Americans, Travis Kelce is immersed in March Madness.
The first round of the 2025 men’s NCAA Tournament tipped off Thursday, with brackets around the country going up in flames within hours. Everyone loves picking upsets, and on this week’s “New Heights” podcast, Kelce revealed his favorite “Cinderella” team.
In the West Region, Kelce expressed an affinity for 11th-seeded Drake, which faced No. 6 seed Missouri on Thursday night.
“The West has one of my favorite teams in the NCAA right now, and that’s Drake,” Kelce said. “Drake University, they have a fun story. Their coach and four of their players are from Division II. They got some guys that could play, although I think Missouri is a really good team, and that’s going to be a tough game for them. That’s like my Cinderella team this year. I’m rooting for them.”
Kelce might not be too bad at this bracketology thing. Drake, led by head coach Ben McCollum and star guard Bennett Stirtz, pulled off the mini-upset tonight, beating Mizzou 67-57.

Drake is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five years, but until tonight, had not won a game in the Big Dance since 1971.
That year, the Bulldogs reached the Elite Eight, two years after the program broke through and made its only Final Four appearance.
The Bulldogs have a few more games to go to match that feat. With the win tonight, Drake moves on to the Round of 32 on Saturday, where it will face the winner of No. 3 seed Texas Tech and 14th-seeded UNC Wilmington.
McCollum, Stirtz and company will have the support of any college basketball fan who loves an underdog, and you have to count Travis Kelce among that group
