It’s been more than two decades since the popular Liverpool-based soap Brookside graced our television screens, but fans are in for a treat as the show is set to return later this month.
A unique crossover episode of Brookside and Hollyoaks will air on E4 on 22 October, marking the latter’s 30th anniversary. The special programme will pay tribute to Sir Phil Redmond, the creative mind behind both shows.
Several actors will be reprising their roles for this one-off episode, including Philip Olivier, who will once again portray his iconic character Timothy O’Leary, better known as Tinhead.
Philip first appeared as Timothy in May 1996 and remained a key figure in the soap until its final episode in 2003.
Since his time on Brookside ended, Philip has kept himself busy with various ventures, from running businesses to starring in other television programmes and theatre productions, reports the Liverpool Echo.

After leaving the soap, he featured in several Doctor Who audio plays and made appearances in the Channel 4 comedy sketch show, Bo Selecta.
He also emerged victorious in the reality TV show The Games in 2005. His impressive physique on the show led to numerous photo shoot opportunities and he even released calendars following his win.
In 2009, Philip was part of a celebrity edition of Come Dine With Me. That same year, he made an appearance on Saturday Night Takeaway, performed in several musicals and pantomimes, and also featured in an episode of the BBC One drama Missing.
Many will recall him as Jason Gallagher from ITV’s Benidorm, having graced the hit sitcom in 2014 and 2015. Philip also had a role in the 2019 short film Just Me.
He may also be remembered for his appearance on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed, as he and a mate run a Liverpool B&B, Yellow Submarine.

Beyond his acting career, Philip leads a bustling home life. He and his partner Amy, who prefers to keep a low profile, are parents to five children.
He holds the position of managing director at Liverpool City Sights, an independent tour company. The firm provides a range of tours including the City and Beatles Tour and the Hop On Hop Off City Tour.
