Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson shared one of the most iconic moments in recent college basketball history, bringing home a national championship to LSU in 2023. They danced through March Madness, cut down nets, and captured the imagination of fans across the country. But despite those unforgettable highs, their personal bond hasn’t lasted.
The two were key figures in LSU’s dominant 2022-23 season. Reese, who transferred from Maryland, quickly became a face of the program, while Johnson, a freshman phenom at the time, brought energy and grit to the backcourt. Together, they helped shape one of the most electric runs in program history. Now, their relationship looks very different.
Championship Bond That Couldn’t Last

Flau’jae Johnson confirmed what many fans had speculated for months. She and Reese are no longer close.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, Johnson said, “We’re not friends, but I mean that bond that we had, that thing that we did together, winning a national championship, you can never take that away from us.”
Back in September, Reese touched on the changing dynamic during an episode of her Unapologetically Angel podcast.
“We’re not as close as we used to be,” she admitted. “But there were no hard feelings.” Johnson’s recent comments suggest there’s more to the story.
According to Johnson, behind-the-scenes tensions played a role. “Yeah, it was a lot of media, it was a lot of locker room stuff,” she said. “Stuff that go on behind the scenes. But it happens. It happens.”
She didn’t dive into specific details but clarified that the attention, and what comes with it, may have impacted the friendship. Both players were high-profile stars during a massive surge in attention for women’s college basketball. Their success came with cameras, headlines, and scrutiny that few 20-year-olds are prepared for.
Even with the distance, Johnson still holds respect for her former teammate. “I support her in everything she do. Like, she’s killing in the WNBA … I’m just proud of her,” she said.
Reese, now in her second WNBA season, continues to impact the court. She’s averaging 9 points and 12 rebounds per game, proving she belongs at the next level.
The friendship may have faded, but the championship banners remain. And for both Reese and Johnson, that shared history will always tie them together, just not as closely as before.
Indiana Fever fans have officially run out of patience with head coach Stephanie White.
The Fever hired White this past offseason with the belief that she’d take the franchise to the next level. After all, she took the Connecticut Sun to the semifinals in each of the past two postseasons.
White knew she’d face a ton of pressure well before the Fever started their 2025 campaign. That’s pretty much the only downside to coaching a team with Caitlin Clark on the roster. Fans will demand greatness every game she’s available.
Unfortunately for White, her 2025 season hasn’t started off on the right foot. Her team is currently seventh in the WNBA standings with a 6-7 record.
Following the Fever’s 89-81 loss to the Las Vegas Aces, several fans went on social media to voice their displeasure with White.

Some fans legitimately want Clark to hold out until White is fired. Of course, that won’t happen.
“FIRE STEPHANIE WHITE! HIRE @LisaBluder Caitlin and her millions of fans will NOT stay at @IndianaFever IF this BAD coaching, abuse & hate continues,” one fan declared on social media.
“The Fever should fire Stephanie White & waive Bonner, who has been horrible while there,” a second fan said.
“It’s a business. Fire Stephanie White. She is not playing around Caitlin Clark and her fast pace instead she is turning the players into playing slow. She is not a good coach,” another fan wrote.
“Can we just fire Stephanie White, please? It is obvious the Fever have taken a step back and are more boring to watch,” a Fever fan said.
For what it’s worth, Clark has made just 1 of 17 attempts from beyond the arc over the past two games. Fans can’t just blame the team’s coaching staff for the lack of success.
The Fever will be back in action this Tuesday against the Seattle Storm. It’s imperative they snap their losing streak and silence their critics in the process.
