QT: Fiona Bruce warns MPs as they speak over each other
Question Time presenter Fiona Bruce sparked backlash as she hosted the latest episode of the BBC political panel show. She was joined by Heidi Alexander, Helen Whately, Lisa Smart, Ash Sarkar, and Matthew Syed in Bishop’s Stortford as the group discussed a number of fiery political issues. But as Fiona was forced to break up a number of tense rows, fans took to social media to complain about her constantly interrupting and talking over people when she is there to guide the conversation.
One said: “Just wish Fiona Bruce would STFU and let QT panellists speak unless they stray seriously off piste…” Another said: “Biggest t**t on #bbcqt is Fiona Bruce. Terrible host. Won’t let people talk. Talks over people and rude.” A third raged: “Fiona Bruce is the wrong person to facilitate conversations, she’s a full bias moron. And largely not aware of all the issues she’s paid to represent.”

A fourth jumped in to say: “Fiona Bruce patronisingly telling panelists not to talk over each other then continuing to talk over all the panelists herself.”
But one was more sympathetic, as they said: “Fiona Bruce is brilliant for @BBC_ARoadshow but not the right host for #bbcqt.”
One particular moment say Labour MP Heidi Alexander, who serves as the Secretary of State for Transport, clash with Conservative MP Helen Whately over the housing crisis in the UK.
The pair began arguing about the lack of homes being built in London, as Whateley said: “London’s targets have been brought down, and London was already underperforming for years under its Labour Mayor, and now its targets have been brought down.”
Alexander responded: “They want homes in other parts of the country, not just London,” as the debate began to turn heated. Fiona was forced to step in as she told them: “If you talk at the same time, no one can hear what you’re saying, and then it’s a complete waste of time for both of you.”
