Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness divorce update after ‘betrayal’

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are officially divorced, with a judgment of divorce believed to have been filed on June 12, making it official.

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, who were once a power couple, have officially parted ways. The duo, who tied the knot in 1996, finalized their divorce just a month after filing, as per reports. It’s believed that a judgment of divorce was filed on June 12, marking the official end of their marriage.

However, this document wasn’t made public until June 23. Prior to the entry of the judgment, two other documents were filed on June 10: a Qualified Medical Child Support Order concerning children’s insurance and “Findings of Fact/Conclusions of Law.”

Online court records from Suffolk County Supreme Court in New York reveal that a judgment of divorce was filed on June 12, and later uploaded to the website on Monday, June 23.

According to the online court records, the case status is now listed as “Disposed.”

Deborra-Lee, who shares two adopted children with the Logan star, has received a “handsome spousal support payment,” as per a source who previously spoke to the Daily Mail. “There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, she got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure.

“There is not going to be any drama with this gives closure that she needed,” the source explained. The Mirror US has reached out to Hugh and Deborra-Lee’s representatives for comment.

Deborra-Lee Furness, 69, filed for divorce from the Wolverine star Hugh Jackman, 56, on May 27. This comes nearly two years after the couple first announced their amicable split in September 2023.

The news was shared via a statement to PEOPLE, which read: “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

Following her filing for divorce last month, the Australian-born actress expressed empathy for others who have experienced betrayal. She said in a statement, “My heart and compassion go out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.

“It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us,” Furness stated.

She went on to say: “This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.

“It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,” Deborra-Lee concluded in her statement.

Deborra-Lee may be hinting at a “betrayal” given that Hugh debuted his new relationship with Sutton Foster roughly four months post-divorce announcement. Hugh, 50, and Sutton, his Broadway co-star in The Music Man in 2022, made their romance public this January.

Notably, Sutton had also ended her decade-long marriage with Ted Griffin in October 2024.
