GB News was paused for an “incredible” breaking alert as the number of migrant crossings on small boats hit a new record. Presenter Mark White had the latest, as a breaking news strap reading “major small boat milestone reached” played across the screen. He said: “Month after month, the criminal people smugglers have pushed small boat migrants out into the Channel in record numbers. It’s left this government’s promise to smash the gangs in tatters.”

It’s another huge blow to Keir Starmer as the number of migrants crossing the border illegally reached 36,886 – 70 more than the figure for the whole of 2024. Meanwhile, anchor Nana Akua was left speechless as she revealed that one migrant who had already been deported from the UK has tried to return on a small boat.

She said: “I just find it quite incredible that a person who was sent back has gone back on a dinghy. This one in, one out is literally exactly that, actually. There’s one in and then one out, he’s the one that’s gone out and come back in. In out, in out, shake it all about.”

Her co-presenter Tom Harwood chimed in: “ Let’s not forget, it’s one out, one in as well, right? So when we sent this guy back, France sent us someone else who didn’t come across by small boat, that’s part of the deal.
