King Charles came under fire on GB News after it was revealed that Buckingham Palace would no longer be his primary residence. This comes after it emerged that the monarch and Queen Camilla would continue to reside in Clarence House, despite almost £370 million of taxpayers’ money being pumped into renovating Buckingham Palace. GB News’ Patrick Christys was joined by comedian Archie Manners, who fumed: “These headlines are utterly absurd, tens of thousands of people have died in Venezuela,” before raging: “It’s not his home, you don’t have a bedroom in the office back there … he’s made a functional office for the head of state, thank goodness for that!”

“This was a building riddled with asbestos; we now have a reasonable place where he can conduct state business. I think that’s wonderful.” Patrick then argued: “For me, the issue is about communication because when they looked to increase the money they wanted for the refurbishment, they said if the King and Queen were going to live there, that it needed to be done properly. It did give the impression that one of the reasons we were paying so much was because that would be their home.”
