A body language expert has claimed that Prince William showed “intense inner feelings” for Kate Middleton at the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

Dr Arthur Cassidy, a chartered member of the British Psychological Society, pinpointed the moment 42-year-old William glanced at Kate, 43, as indicative of his deep emotions during the prestigious event.

According to Dr Cassidy, the tightness of William’s lips and his prolonged gaze were tell-tale signs of his affection, reports Cambridgeshire Live.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, Dr Cassidy explained: “Prince William, our ebullient and animated Prince, devoted father and protector, with his uniform as Colonel-in-Chief of the Welsh Guards, shows for a few milliseconds, a tight upper lip as he faces Princess Kate.

“This signifies his positive emotional state as he’s deeply in love with wife Kate. Mouth muscles controlling his lip movement include what we call elevators, which is the levator labii superioris at the top of William’s strong jawline.

“When physically attracted to your spouse, in this context Catherine, this produces an intense inner emotional reaction to Princess Catherine’s long-lasting loving gaze. His lips then become more relaxed.”

Dr Cassidy didn’t stop there. He also commented on Kate’s body language, praising her as an “authentic masterclass in fashion fit for a future Queen”.

The expert’s insights suggest that the Royal Family may have conveyed more than just ceremonial pomp during the weekend’s festivities.

Another body language expert, Judi James, shared her insights with the Daily Express on the subtle signals the senior royals projected during their balcony appearance.

Judi said: “Posing in the glorious sunshine in front of the cheering crowds, the [Royal Family] proved once again what they are good at and what has been crucial for their survival: stoicism and the ‘never complain, never explain’ philosophy.”

She also noted King Charles’s warm exchanges, especially with Prince Louis and Prince William, as a testament to their closeness.

Judi explained: “The King might have looked tetchy in the carriage on the way to the Palace, but he was all good humour and warm smiles on the balcony, even nudging Louis for a chat at one point and picking out his son William for another conversation. This father-son exchange of words looked important and symbolic.

“Charles tends to pick out the most important people in his life at that time to pay attention to during a balcony appearance. Kate has often been the object of his attention, but to chat to William suggested a new era of warmth and compatibility between the two men.”
