Peter Phillips and his new fiancée, Harriet Sperling, will soon be planning a wedding following the news of their engagement.

Last week, it was announced that Peter and Harriet are engaged! A romance between Princess Anne’s son, 47, and NHS nurse Harriet blossomed last year.

Now with a wedding on the horizon, one royal commentator has suggested the role Princes William and Harry could take on.

Prince William could be ‘best man’ at Peter Phillips’ wedding

There have been no details on a wedding yet. But that hasn’t stopped people speculating on what the big day could be like.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold has shared his thoughts on whether William, 43, or Harry, 40, could have big roles at their cousin’s wedding.

Speaking to Royal Insider on behalf of Fruity King, Grant said: “I think there is a chance that William could be asked to be his best man.

“Peter is very close with both of them, but I think with Harry having been away for a while, he has probably been spending more time with William, so would likely choose him.”

Grant added: “If he doesn’t have either of them as best man, I think they will certainly be asked to be ushers.

“There is a chance Harry won’t play any major role because of the rift, but I think he will certainly be invited. He and Peter have always been very close.”

Harry has become distant from the royal family since stepping back from duties in 2020. A series of tell-all interviews and explosive allegations in his memoir, Spare, have reportedly strained relations even more.

But in May this year, Harry expressed a desire to reconcile with his family.

Peter Phillips’ engagement to Harriet Sperling

Last week, a statement was released to announce Peter and Harriet’s engagement.

It read: “Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement.

“Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement.

“Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement. No date has been officially set for the wedding.”

Has Peter Phillips ever been married?

Yes, Peter was previously married to his first wife, Autumn Kelly.

The pair married in 2008 and split in 2019. Their divorce was finalised in 2021.

Peter and Autumn have two children – Savannah, 14, and Isla, 13.

Peter is the late Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest grandson and King Charles’ nephew.
