Dianne Buswell has shared an emotional update following her unexpected withdrawal from Strictly Come Dancing. Her celebrity partner, Stefan Dennis, was forced to leave the BBC competition after suffering an injury that left him unable to continue. The Neighbours star, 66, was granted a bye after missing week three, but later discovered he had torn his calf “so significantly” during week four that he could no longer continue in the competition. Now, Dianne, 36, has revealed the pair will make their final appearance on the Strictly spin-off show, It Takes Two, this evening.
Above a snap of the pair sitting in the BBC studio, Dianne wrote: “Our last It Takes Two together,” followed by a face holding back tears emoji and a red heart. The update comes just days after Stefan announced that he had quit the show. A statement issued by the actor said: “This morning I woke up to the most disappointing day of the time in my Strictly journey. Just when I had finally gained the confidence to do well with my dancing in the comp and achieve more great dances along the way, I was told that on Saturday I had torn my calf so significantly that I am now forced to withdraw from the show.

“I can’t tell you how devastated I am to have to leave so prematurely especially, as there has been, and still is, so much love and support from everyone for both Dianne and myself.
“I owe both the Strictly Family and Dianne a massive debt of gratitude for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dream of being able to dance with my wife. (When my leg is better). “Fun fact for all the avid Neighbours fans… it’s the same leg!”
After the news was announced, a gutted Dianne wrote on Instagram: “Stefo I’m so sorry our strictly journey was cut short just as that confidence was starting to grow. But you can walk away with your head held high.
“You can go home to your wonderful wife put your hand out and say would you like to cha cha cha with me. The main reason for being on this show was to be able to dance with her and you can certainly do that now.
The Australian dancer added: “You are the kindest human I have ever worked with and I can always say I got to dance with the iconic neighbours legend Stefan Dennis or as my dad calls ya Paul Robertson. Can’t wait for you to send me the video of you and Gail dancing together.”
Around the same time, Dianne was forced to hit back at trolls as they continued to criticise her decision to perform while pregnant.
Posting to her Instagram Stories, she shared a comment which said: “I get so uncomfortable watching Dianne run down the stairs in heels, cartwheel and do tricks while pregnant.
“Your centre of gravity is off while you’re pregnant, just takes one slip to fall on the precious bump. She is a true professional and fabulous dancer but I think it might have been wise to sit this season out. She is 36 so classed as advanced maternal age mother regardless of how fit she is, I think BBC made a mistake here.”

They also pointed out that Amy Dowden took part in the BBC competition last year despite dealing with health challenges, adding: “It just doesn’t make sense. Like it didn’t make sense to give Amy a celebrity partner last year and look what happened there.”
Clearly frustrated, Dianne wrote: “I have honestly had enough of comments like these.”
After another fan claimed Stefan and Dianne’s exit was “planned” due to her pregnancy, she raged: “I sound like a broken record but I’m seeing a bit of this floating around again! I know people say ignore it but actually why should I?”
“I will speak up… I would love nothing more than to keep dancing this week next week the week after that so on and so forth. In fact I have more energy this year than I did this time last year.”
She concluded with: “Please respect Stefan who is extremely gutted to not be able to dance and stop presuming this was a set up! Because believe me we would if we could!”
