Tom Ellis, known for his role in the BBC sitcom Miranda, has candidly spoken about his past actions, stating he harbours “no regrets”. The actor was introduced to EastEnders legend Tamzin Outhwaite by James McAvoy and they tied the knot in 2006. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 2014. The former couple share two children, Flo, 17, and Marnie, 12.
Speaking on the How To Fail podcast with Elizabeth Day, Tom opened up about the end of their marriage, confessing that he doesn’t regret any of his past decisions as he addressed his “failings”. “When I was younger I was obsessed with that notion of the perfect life,” he explained. “My mum and dad married very young. My elder sister married very young and is still with her husband. My twin sister is still married to her husband. I was surrounded by this notion of how it should be. When it didn’t work out like that I realised I still existed and breathed. I was still a person and still had things to offer. I had to be open and honest about my failings in order to move forward.”

He explained: “It’s easy to say you regret things, but actually no, I don’t regret anything,” adding, “Every time I made a choice, or decided something, that’s how I was feeling at the time, I wasn’t pretending. I went into everything with great intentions.”
Reflecting on his second marriage to American screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer, Tom shared on the How To Fail podcast: “I met Meaghan at a time when it was impossible to hide my imperfections, and I was in a place where I was open to talk about my faults.”
He continued: “Life hadn’t gone how I thought it would. I was out of a marriage that didn’t work, and I think you learn a lot through that process, out of that hardship, I was a stronger, resilient person.”
Tom and Meaghan tied the knot in 2019 and the couple reside in Los Angeles.

Despite having no regrets, Tom did admit to having some reservations about significant life changes.
Tom has since obtained American citizenship, which he describes as happening at the “worst possible time”.
Reflecting on President Donald Trump’s administration, he remarked: “I love the States, but it is a strange time to be a US citizen. I’m terrified of the new administration and what they’re going to do.”
This follows Tamzin’s candid revelations about co-parenting with Tell Me Lies actor Tom, disclosing that he has been “in and out” of their children’s lives.

Speaking frankly on the Parenting Hell podcast, she discussed the heartbreaking separation.
She proceeded to describe her current situation, including the challenges of co-parenting with him, and the satisfaction she experiences regarding how much progress she and her family have achieved.
When podcast presenter Josh Widdicombe noted the separation occurred “about 10 years ago,” she responded: “Yeah, it was literally when the kids were tiny. Marnie was not even one.”
Elaborating on Tom’s involvement in their lives, she added: “He lives in LA. So he’s pretty in and out of their lives, but they have a lot of support and people that have been around.”
Previously, in a conversation with OK!, Tamzin declared she was “happy single” before stating: “There’s a lot on! Life is really busy, throwing a relationship into that is a whole other thing. Freedom fills up my cup, freedom to do as you please is a lovely thing. That makes me happy.”
