Sir Rod Stewart was left “shaken up” after a terrifying ca:rja:cking in Hollywood saw the rock legend robbed at g::unpoint in front of his young daughter. The dramatic incident unfolded on April 26, 1982, as the rock legend stood with his three-year-old daughter Kimberly near his black 1977 Porsche Turbo Carrera, parked on Sunset Boulevard. A man in his 20s approached in broad daylight, pulled a g::un, and demanded the keys to the $50,000 (£28,000) sports car.
Stewart immediately complied, but the g::unman wasn’t able to start the vehicle due to its electronic anti-theft system. Instead, he forced the singer to start the engine himself before speeding off, leaving Stewart and Kimberly stunned and speechless at the curb. His secretary Martha Baher told the People Page at the time: “The only thing that went through rock star Rod Stewart’s mind as a car thief held him at g::unpoint on a Hollywood street was the safety of his 3-year-old daughter, Kimberly.”

“He’s still shook up. Wouldn’t you be?” she added. Despite the ordeal, Stewart, then 37, remained composed. Baher explained: “Mr. Stewart’s primary concern was for Kimberly’s safety. He remained calm.”
After the thief fled, Stewart, who has eight children, contacted the sheriff’s office. Authorities said the suspect, described as a Black man in his 20s, also took Stewart’s wallet and other personal belongings left inside the car.
Sheriff’s deputies continued their search for the vehicle and confirmed that they had “some information.” Deputy John Radeleff told reporters: “There is every indication that the g::unman did not know that his victim was Rod Stewart. The make of the car is a pretty hot item with thieves in this area. Mr. Stewart has been highly cooperative.”
No reports since the incident indicate that the car or the suspected robber were ever found or brought to justice. The incident marked only the first ca:rja:cking the Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? singer would have in the United States.
