Lorraine slammed Thomas Skinner over his alleged lawsuit against Strictly Come Dancing(Image: ITV)
Lorraine Kelly made her feelings about Thomas Skinner’s alleged lawsuit against the BBC very clear. The ITV daytime show host took a moment on air to slam the Apprentice star and question his motives.
On Thursday (18 December), it was reported that Thomas is suing the BBC, as he claimed to have proof that the organisation had rigged the votes on Strictly Come Dancing, which he was booted out of first.
Lorraine was not impressed by the lawsuit. Talking about the news, she frowned incredulously as she said: “He’s suing the BBC. It seems to be a trend these days, everybody is doing it.” The TV personality was referencing Donald Trump, who is suing the BBC over a Panorama episode in which a speech he gave on January 6, 2021, was edited.

Talking to entertainment editor and journalist Lucie Cave about the news, Lorraine asked about Thomas’ motives for suing. “What do you think he wants out of this?” she said. “I don’t really get it…”
Lucie reminded the host that Thomas has yet to confirm that he is suing the organisation, but that Thomas is thought to have felt vilified on the show and that his exit was orchestrated. She added that this was stirring it all back up and bringing Thomas’ controversies back into the public eye.

“Everybody has forgotten about it,” Lorraine agreed. “We have and we’ve all moved on with our lives. It just seems very… I don’t know. I don’t know.”
“He’s up there with Donald Trump, who is also suing the BBC,” Lorraine continued before rolling her eyes as she moved on to discussing Ed Sheeran’s muscular new physique.

Thomas was the first out on Strictly(Image: PA)
The Sun first reported on Thomas’ alleged suit. The star had been at the centre of controversy when he was announced as a contestant on Strictly. Many felt he should not be on the show due to his public friendship with the likes of Vice President JD Vance.
The controversies continued after an incident in which Thomas stormed out of a press event with a journalist’s phone after seeing a question about his personal life on it. Subsequently, it was revealed that he had cheated on his wife.
The Sun claimed that the alleged suit comes after he acquired “proof” that the BBC had rigged the votes to place him at the bottom, which the BBC have denied. A source told the paper: “Thomas is adamant he got a larger share of the public vote and believes he has the evidence to prove it. He is determined to see it through, but there’s no way the BBC will take this sensational claim lying down.”

Asked to comment on the allegations, a BBC spokesperson told the Mirror that they hadn’t received any legal paperwork: “Strictly Come Dancing’s public vote is robust and independently overseen and verified to ensure complete accuracy.”
Donald Trump is suing the BBC over an episode of Panorama in which a speech he gave on January 6, 2021, before a riot took place at the US Capitol, was edited. In court documents filed in Florida, Trump accused the BBC of defamation and violating a trade practices law.
