Meghan and Harry dealt blow as Oprah tears apart UK security row with nine brutal words

Oprah Winfrey appeared to take a subtle swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they continue their fight for taxpayer-funded security when in the UK. Since he and Harry decided to step away from their roles as senior politicians and move to the US, they lost the automatic right to police security. Harry now has to give a month’s notice before going to the UK to allow time for a risk assessment.
On each return to the UK, Harry has been denied full protection. He also lost a court battle against the Home Office in May last year. His determination for security as a non-working royal has sparked backlash. In a new clip, TV host Oprah Winfrey, who famously interviewed him and Meghan in 2021, watched a clip back of Harry telling her: “My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave, and I have huge compassion for that.”

Oprah then said nine words to the camera, “If you don’t want to be bothered, stay home.” She added: “If you want to keep your privacy, then don’t go out. If you want to go to a restaurant and you want to have, you know, you’re having out to dinner with Stedman, and he’s like, ‘Why are people coming up all the time?’ Then let’s stay home and eat. And so that has been my approach.”
She added: “Very different though, I think, than being royalty or being even a movie star.”
Her comment came after she clarified why she asked Meghan the now-infamous “were you silent or were you silenced?” question, as she said it was because she wanted absolute clarity.

Winfrey said: “I didn’t want, later, to hear ‘Well no, it wasn’t that. It really was that I was silenced.’ So it was all for clarification,” she told the outlet.

Social media users have taken to social media to comment on Oprah’s new remarks, as one said: “I think Oprah is covering her back. She is not going to pander to them anymore. She sounds p*ssed off with them, if anything.”
Another added: “Yeah, I think Oprah is pissed but let’s clarify. Harry may be royalty, but Megan certainly is not. She only spent 18 months in the royal family. She’s not royal as much as she wants the American public to believe that she is royal. She can go anywhere she wants.”
A third chimed in: “The Wales family have eaten out several times in country pubs, completely unbothered by press and public. Catherine walked up 3 mountains unbothered. It can be done.”
A fourth swiped: “Yea they have zero regal presence. They are at best d-list celebrities.”
