Prince Harry visited Queen Elizabeth II’s grave at St George’s Chapel, Windsor on Monday morning, shortly after his arrival back to the UK for a four-day visit. The Duke was pictured arriving at Heathrow Airport earlier today for a short trip which will see him attend the annual WellChild Awards and make an appearance in Nottingham.

His arrival coincides with the three-year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. It also fell around the same time that Prince William and Princess Kate stepped out just eight miles away to visit the Women’s Institute (WI) in Sunninghill, Berkshire – a foundation that was hugely close to the late monarch’s heart as she was a member and the President of Sandringham WI for 80 years.

It was confirmed shortly after his visit to St George’s Chapel that Harry had laid a wreath and flowers on his late grandmother’s grave.

The late monarch is buried in Windsor alongside her husband, Prince Philip, her sister Princess Margaret and her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.

Prince Harry is understood to have touched down in the UK at around 11.30am on Monday morning ahead of his attendance at the annual Wellchild Award ceremony in London this evening.

After Harry attends the WellChild Awards, he will then head to Nottingham to show his support for BBC Children in Need.

Meghan Markle has stayed behind in the US to look after Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. While any details of a reunion remain unconfirmed, it has been reported that Harry hopes to see his father on his four-day visit to the UK, but it is understood he still does not know whether this will happen.

Prince Harry’s return to the UK comes after a friend revealed just how much the Duke wants to bring his two children to the UK to help them better understand their heritage.

A friend said: “He’s not given up hope on bringing his family back to the UK. He wants to be able to show his children where he grew up. He wants them to know their family here. He really would like to come back to the UK much more.”
