King Charles and Prince Harry may be putting an end to their royal rift next week if they decide to meet up during Harry’s visit to the UK. Although unconfirmed, it is believed the monarch, 76, may meet his youngest son within days, with Harry set to attend the Wellchild Awards on September 8.
If a meeting does go ahead, it would be the first time since February 2024 that the father and son pair have been face-to-face. Claims that the King wants to end their relationship difficulties were doubled down on by ex-royal butler Grant Harrold in his recently released book, The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service.
While there are many reasons why the King may want to improve his relationship with Harry, Mr Harrold believes the main reason is that the King “likes everyone to be happy” and “get on”.

Speaking to GB News, Mr Harrold – who worked for the King for seven years between 2004 and 2011 – said: “I know what the King’s like, he likes everyone to be happy.
“He likes everyone to get on. So you can guarantee the King without question wants it resolved.”
Mr Harrold also said that while the meeting is just speculation at the moment, the fact that Harry and the King’s senior aides met up just weeks ago shows that “there’s something going on”.
He said: “I think if his (Harry’s) father wants to see him, then he will see him. That’s what I think, and what we’ve seen recently is definitely signs that it could happen.”

Neither the King or Prince Harry have confirmed whether or not a meeting will be taking place between the pair.
It has been reported that Prince William has no interest in meeting with his estranged brother, with a friend of the prince telling The Royalist that William thinks any meeting between Charles and Harry is a “terrible idea”.
The friend said: “Ultimately, William is a loyal soldier. He respects his father’s rank, and he respects his father’s right to make his own decisions, and he won’t make a fuss if it happens.
“But he (William) thinks a Harry meeting is a terrible, terrible idea.”
