Viewers were left stunned — and the jungle in tears — as Ruby Wax became the fifth celebrity to be voted out of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in an elimination nobody saw coming.
The 72-year-old comedian’s departure on Wednesday night sent shockwaves through the camp, with several of the remaining seven stars breaking down as they realised their “queen” was leaving.
Speaking to Ant and Dec moments after her exit, an emotional Ruby described her fellow campmates as her “family”, admitting she had completely lost touch with the outside world inside the jungle.
“I thought this would be an adventure… but I never expected this much love,” she said. “This wasn’t a show anymore — this was family. And losing them hurts.”

“I got away with everything by charm. I was the queen, even if I wasn’t officially crowned,” she laughed. “When you’re in that world, the leader feels very real.”
She also playfully hinted that she would be “punishing” Aitch and Ginge after discovering they secretly took extra milk bottle sweets during the now-infamous ‘Milkgate’ scandal.
“I bonded. I had more than fun. I became five years old again in there,” Ruby added.
