Gogglebox star Pete Sandiford has shared a special message for his sister and on-screen partner, Sophie. They joined the much-loved Channel 4 show in 2017 for series 10 and have been part of the show ever since. The siblings have allowed viewers to have an insight into their Blackpool homes every Friday evening, for close to a decade.

Outside of Gogglebox, Sophie dresses shop windows for a living and Pete works for an insurance company. Sophie celebrated her birthday this week and Pete shared a post to Instagram to mark the special occasion. A picture of the two as children was captioned: “Happy 30th birthday to my partner in crime.”

A birthday message was also sent by Paul Chuckle, who is related to the siblings. He posted a selfie with the Gogglebox stars and said: “Happy 30th birthday my lovely grand niece Soph, you were only 24 here [on the selfie]. Lots of love from us both.” Sophie responded: “Thank you uncle Paul and auntie Sue, love you both.”

It has been an eventful couple of months for Sophie, aside from turning 30. Last month she got engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Ben McKeown.

Sophie posted pictures of the pair standing in front of engagement balloons, in dressing gowns in a hotel room, and a close-up of her blue oval engagement ring. She captioned the post on Instagram: “WE’RE ENGAGED.” The couple didn’t share any details about the proposal itself, although it appeared they were at a spa.

Sophie has been sent plenty of supportive messages as she celebrates her birthday. Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley posted “All the happiness there is, love Dave and Shirley.”

Simon Minty posted “Fab pic. Happy birthday Sophie” and Izzi Warner commented “Happy birthday Sophie!! Hope you have the best time celebrating.”

Ellie Warner shared: “Happy birthday Sophie, hope you have a fabulous day” and Scott Beswick responded “Happy Birthday Sophie! I hope you’re having a Fabulous Day.”

In September the latest series of the Channel 4 show got underway. The much-loved series first aired in the UK on March 7 2013. There has since been 25 series that have aired.

The production team spend time scouting out the perfect candidates for the show, and being spotted remains the only way to be on Gogglebox.

The regular Gogglebox stars returned to our screens. Those that returned to the show include Jenny and Lee, The Siddiquis, The Malones, Giles and Mary, Ellie and Izzi and David and Shirley. Pete and Sophie also returned.
