Strictly Come Dancing’s Karen Hauer and her partner Simon Davidson have been left heartbroken after receiving distressing news about one of their beloved pets.
Karen, a professional dancer on the popular BBC One show, was back in the ballroom on Saturday, performing alongside Gladiator Harry Aikines-Aryeetey for the fourth week of the competition.
The duo performed a rumba to Roxette’s ‘It Must Have Been Love’, earning 26 out of a possible 40 points from the judges and a standing ovation from the audience.
However, behind her performance, Karen was dealing with personal sorrow. On Sunday morning, she shared that her dog, Betty, had been unwell.
Sharing pictures of the adorable dog, including images from recent vet visits, Karen said: “Last week Simon felt two small lumps on Betty’s belly and under her armpit. We took her to the vet, and the results showed traces of cancer. Our hearts broke.”, reports Wales Online.

“As far as we know, it’s grade one, and our vets have been absolutely incredible. They’ll be conducting further tests to ensure they have all the information and can guide us through the next steps to provide our Betty with the best possible treatment.”
She then urged: “Please check your fur babies for any lumps or bumps… early detection can make all the difference. SandK.”
Gemma Atkinson quickly responded, offering her support to Karen and Simon: “Oh bless her. Hope you guys are all doing ok.”
Harry also expressed his concern, commenting under the post: “Such sad news! I hope she’ll be ok.”
Strictly 2024 performer Sarah Hadland echoed the sentiment, saying: “Oh sweet girl I hope she’s ok.”
Fellow cast member Lauren Oakley sent her well wishes, stating: “Love and cuddles to Betty girl.”
