TV CHAOS: Jaw-Dropping Chaos As Mark Labbett Storms Off Beat The Chasers Set After Humiliating £100k Defeat

rmed off stage during a dramatic episode of Beat The Chasers that saw ITV lose £100,000.

After building up a prize pot of £4,000 in the cash builder, Mark, 60, upped the ante on the show by offering contestant Gavin the chance to win a six-figure sum if he went up against the five Chasers in just 40 seconds.

Mark said: ‘I disagree with my colleagues; I think they’ve been far too stingy.

‘I’m gonna reduce the time to 40 seconds on our clock… and you’ll be playing for £100,000.’

For those unfamiliar with the premise, the spin-off quiz show sees contestants answer single questions for £1,000 each.

They then have the chance to win a much larger cash prize by taking on between two and five Chasers in a timed round of less than 60 seconds.

Unfazed by the limited time on the clock, Gavin took Mark up on his offer in a bid to scoop the massive prize pot.

He then went head-to-head with Mark, Paul Sinha (The Sinnerman), Anne Hegerty (The Governess), Jenny Ryan (The Vixen) and Darragh Ennis (The Menace).

While Gavin made some simple errors, like saying that Gomez was the head of The Munsters and not The Addams Family, he soon managed to get into a winning streak of correct answers.

Before leaving, Mark quipped: ‘Firstly, well played, Sir. Secondly, I’ll get my coat.’

The celeb was as good as his word and immediately left the stage, failing to return even as the credits rolled.

The Vixen said: ‘There’s very little we can do. It doesn’t matter how many of us are up here when you were getting so many of yours right.

‘When you missed the Addams Family one, I thought, “Oh, the wheels might come off here,” but you got straight back on it.’

Joking about Gavin’s career as a fireman, The Menace added: ‘At least you got the pyromancy one right.’

Viewers of the show also congratulated Mark on the impressive win on social media, writing: ‘Congrats Gavin, well played.’;

‘What an incredible win!! Well done Gavin £100k take that holiday you deserve.’;

‘Blimey, £100,000 for Gavin! Is that the biggest ever jackpot on Beat The Chasers?’;

‘Way to go Gavin on winning 100k.’

While Gavin did not win the largest ever jackpot on the show, it was one of the few triple-digit sums ever claimed.

Other three-figure winners include celebrity contestants Rick Edwards and Shaun Williamson, who both won a staggering £120,000 for their chosen charities.
