In one of the most infuriating personal moments to come recently, incoming First Lady Melania Trump was snubbed on camera by Karen Pence, wife of former Vice President Mike Pence. The incident occurred at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral, attended by all living former Presidents and their spouses, except for Michelle Obama, on Thursday, January 9. As could be expected, the incident sparked a huge amount of online fury.

The video of the incident that emerged shows Melania and Donald Trump finding their seats inside the National Cathedral and shaking hands as they did so. During the time spent before funeral pleasantly greeted, despite political differences, Obama, Clinton, Mike Pence, and others, with no incidents other than being able to pleasantly say hello.

But, despite framing herself as a strong Christian and being inside the National Cathedral, Karen Pence couldn’t keep it together and be polite. Instead, while in a Christian gathering place, she remained seated and refused to shake the hand of either Melania or Donald Trump even as her husband stood up and shook their hands.

Melania, responding tastefully to the shocking snub rather than rising to the bait of her tasteless former counterpart, simply offered a cold and polite smile to the abominably rude former Second Lady, one who was rude even when the Obamas, Kamala Harris, and Doug Emhoff kept it together and stayed polite while with their political rival.

As could be expected, the internet, particularly X (formerly Twitter) went berserk over the incident, calling out Karen’s rudeness to Melania on the one year anniversary of Melania’s mom’s death. For example, the “Libercrat” X account, which mainly focuses on calling out the leftist-aligned media, slammed Karen’s poor manners.

That account said, hammering Karen as “having absolutely no class” and posting a clip of the incident, “Former Second Lady, Karen Pence, has absolutely no class. She’s tacky and disgraceful for not even standing up, looking at or acknowledging President Trump and Melania whom were both graceful enough to greet and shake hands with her husband, Mike Pence.”

Commenters on that post largely agreed, leaving messages like, “She is jealous and small! Can’t hang w the cool kids. Never has. Never will,” “absolute disgrace..,” and “Props to Melania Trump for sitting through this funeral, surrounded by all those thick political egos – on the 1 year anniversary of her Mom’s death. 💔” Watch the incident here:

Also chiming in on the handshake matter was the “Insurrection Barbie” X account, which wrote that Melania had displayed class whereas Karen acted in a very childish manner, saying, “Karen Pence is a child. Mike Pence has no future in the Republican Party. He is a never was. Melania Trump is just class served up with a side of beauty.”

Commenting on the situation generally, former Daily Wire personality Brett Cooper wrote, “Karen Pence ignoring Trump and Melania. Bush WHACKING Obama in the stomach. Obama and Trump giggling. Kamala and Jill refusing to speak. Biden sleeping. Hillary looking miserable. Melania wondering how on earth she got here. This is CINEMA!!!!! Hollywood take notes.”
