Today’s Al Roker’s ex-wife Alice Bell has passed away at the age of 77 years old, their shared daughter Courtney Roker Laga has confirmed
NBC’s TODAY Show weatherman Al Roker’s ex-wife Alice Bell has died at the age of 77 years old, her daughter has confirmed.
Alice’s adopted daughter Courtney Roker Laga shared the tragic news of her mother’s d3ath in a heartfelt post on Instagram. In the post, she shared an adorable throwback vintage baby photo with Alice as she penned: “She was my mother, my heart, and the most loving grandmother to Sky. I was with her for her last breath, and I will carry her love with me always.”
On Tuesday, Feb. 11, Roker was noticeably absent from the Today Show in the wake of the heartbreaking news. During the morning segment NBC meteorologist Dylan Dreyer stepped in for him. Alice’s cause of d3ath remains unclear
Under Courtney’s post she was met with an outpour of love from her followers. One supporter commented: “May she roar on angel’s wings! My deepest condolences to you and your family. Take a break and let your heart grieve the loss of your beautiful mother.” Another added: “I’m so very sorry for your loss, it truly is a privilege to be there for your loved one’s last moment.” And a third replied: “Oh no! Deepest condolences to your family. May her memory continue to be a blessing to you all.”

During her life, Roker and Bell shared a decade-long marriage from 1984 to 1994 during which they welcomed their adopted daughter Courtney in 1987. The former couple later split when Courtney turned 5 years old and finalized their divorce in 1994. At the time, Al worked for NBC where he met his current wife Deborah Roberts, who he married in 1995.
While Roker has remained largely private about his relationship with Bell, he has been outspoken for his love for their shared daughter. On the Today Show in 2021, the anchorman reflected on fatherhood as he said: “I will tell you both that it’s the greatest thing that will ever happen to you, and that you will know that your heart beats outside your body to somebody else’s. And no matter what happens, these are always your children.”
