Al Roker has returned to the Today show after taking a step back following the death of his ex-wife.

The 70-year-old anchor was absent from the NBC morning show on Tuesday, but viewers were delighted to see him return to our screens on Wednesday. Al seemed in good spirits as he took a picture with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts following his Super Bowl win.

Al shared the snap on Instagram and wrote, “What a thrill meeting #superbowl champion #mvp @philadelphiaeagles quarterback @jalenhurts this morning at the @todayshow.” Fans were loving the post, with one person commenting, “Great picture of 2 handsome & great men.”

Another agreed, “Two of the greats.” A third fan shared, “I am sure he was just as excited to get to meet the one and only Mr. Al Roker!”

Al’s return to the Today show came after his eldest daughter, Courtney Roker Laga, announced the death of her mom Alice Bell on Instagram. She wrote, “She was my mother, my heart, and the most loving grandmother to Sky.”

Courtney shared photos of herself and 19-month-old daughter, Sky, with Alice. “I was with her for her last breath, and I will carry her love with me always,” Courtney added.

She did not share her mom’s cause of death. However, one of the pictures Courtney shared showed Alice using an oxygen tube while she held her granddaughter.

Al didn’t address the family’s loss during his TV show appearance on Wednesday. However, he is being supported by his NBC colleagues.

His former co-host Tamron Hall commented on Courtney’s post, “Sending our love,” while Joy Bauer added, “So much love,” with a red heart and prayer hands emoji.

Alice and Al adopted their daughter Courtney when she was an infant in 1987, three years after they tied the knot. The pair eventually divorced in 1994, with Al moving on with Deborah Roberts. The couple married in 1995 and share two children together.
