Kelly Clarkson is being criticized after she abruptly postponed the opening two shows of her Las Vegas residency last minute, being labeled a ‘flake’ by people who work with her

Kelly Clarkson is catching flak from fans and staffers alike after she took to Instagram to cancel the opening two shows of her Las Vegas residency just 90 minutes before she was set to take the stage.

The Grammy winner posted a lengthy statement about the postponement of her Studio Sessions residency, despite earlier that day posting a photo of herself rehearsing with the caption ‘TONIGHT!!’

The singer was also mysteriously absent for 10 days from her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, back in March due to a ‘private matter.’ A staffer told the Daily Mail, “I love Kelly dearly, but the whiplash is a lot with her right now.”

“She’s the sweetest woman in show business,” the source said, “And not to be mean, but she’s being a flake. I’m sorry, but that’s how it feels. She’s being flaky. And that’s very hard to be in business with.”

In her statement, the American Idol winner wrote, in part, “I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars. The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all, and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage, so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”

Fans were not happy, flooding the post with comments like, “I get that you need to rest your voice, but posting today that you will see is tonight and then canceling at the last minute is incredibly disrespectful to your fans. I thought you were a kind, nice, and respectful person, but this made me lose trust in you.”

Another wrote, “The crazy part is there isn’t even an apology in this post,” with one fan echoing, “What the fans DESERVED was a huge APOLOGY! You never apologized to your fans for the huge INCONVENIENCE you caused. Financial and otherwise.”

“Honestly, I don’t know if it’s her voice or not,” the insider told the Daily Mail, “She has had voice issues before, and obviously it’s a lot of work preparing for a residency, but this is not good.”

“It feels like she has been phoning it in on the show because she wants to perform, but she then postpones her residency. It has people here really wondering.”

There is no word yet on when the July 4 and 5 shows will be rescheduled, but the residency will now open on July 11 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
