BBC viewers turned off just minutes into Wimbledon coverage as they issued the same complaint. The 2025 Championships at Wimbledon are in full swing at the All England Club as spectators get to catch some of the best tennis players from around the world battle it out for the coveted trophy. The BBC was criticised by viewers on social media after their coverage of Novak Djokovic’s second-round Wimbledon match against Dan Evans went down midway through the match.

Viewers took to social media and urged the BBC get rid of the TV licence fee after they complained about the error during the live coverage. Tennis fans were left shocked after the live broadcast inexplicably cut to a shot of what appeared to a studio with an empty chair and a coffee cup. Fans could be seen milling about in the background as the live shot continued while the match audio could still be heard.
One irate viewer fumed: “Nice coverage of Wimbledon, mid game the camera switches to a man in an orange hat missing all the action. The BBC are a f*****g joke. #Wimbledon2025 #Wimbledon #BBC.”
Another questioned: “Why are we watching everyone sat on Henman Hill instead of EvansvDjokovic??? #wimbledon #bbc.”
A third fumed: “Cameras down, and the commentators don’t even know ffs. The BBC have the audacity to demand people pay a TV licence for this. #Wimbledon2025 #Wimbledon.”(sic)
A fourth said: “Eh #bbc can you switch the camera to the game and not just the crowd? Wtf #Wimbledon.”(sic)
A fifth penned: “Why are BBC 1 and 2 showing Henman Hill and not the matches? #Wimbledon.”
“Would be nice if the BBC could actually show us the match? #wimbledon.” While a seventh added: “Waste of the licence fee!”
During the live coverage, another camera shot showed Henman Hill with fans sat on watching the match on a big screen, but still no available feed of the game.

Viewers were unable to watch the action for several minutes before finally coverage resumed.
Meanwhile, Djokovic was at the peak of his powers on Thursday, with the champion crushing Evans in straight sets to advance to the third round of Wimbledon.
The 38-year-old won 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 as he continues his pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam title.
