Emmerdale star Katie Hill, who is the Sarah Sugden actor has quite a talented life away from the soap.

At the moment, Sarah is caught up in a storyline involving new bad-boy Kammy and her ex-boyfriend Jacob. But fans have been worried that the sudden attention on her lifespan may be foreshadowing her death on the show.

Katie first joined Emmerdale in 2017 and is actually the fifth actress to play the role. However, Katie was brought in because she was older and there were more mature storylines about to take place for Sarah.

How old is Katie and where is she from?

While Sarah Sugden turns a big 20 years old this year, Katie is actually older than her on-screen alter ego.

The Sarah actor was actually born on March 8 2003, making her 22 years old.

As for where she grew up, that is something she does have in common with Sarah. Katie was born and raised in Leeds, West Yorkshire, where she attended Scala Performing Arts School.

Acting career and theatre roles:

Surprisingly, Katie’s first ever professional on-screen acting role was Emmerdale.

Katie took over the role from Sophia Amber Moore who ha played Sarah from 2007 to 2017.

However, before Emmerdale she did have some acting history – but it was on stage.

Over the years, she was in productions of Scrooge: The Musical, Oliver and Les Miserables.

But once she landed the big role as Sarah Sugden on Emmerdale, she stopped her theatre roles.

Hidden musical talent

However, acting isn’t her only talent as she has quite a strong musical background too – and has even released some songs!

Over the years she has posted snippets of her singing on her Instagram account, and the comments were always flooded with support.

Last year, she released her debut single Bitter Sweet on Spotify, and fans all hope she continues to release more.

In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic a lot of Emmerdale stars took part of YouTube videos to share their lives with fans. And Katie chose to showcase her vocal talents.

This was the first time fans got a glimpse of her voice. She performed a cover of Almost is Never Enough by Ariana Grande, which remains a loved cover by fans.

What does the future hold for Sarah Sugden actor Katie Hill on Emmerdale?

At the moment fans have been fearing that Sarah will be dying sometime soon. And that she may even be the grave that Cain was crying at in the flash-forward scene.

However, there are no official reports that suggest Katie is leaving the role. In fact she’s had even more storylines recently.

Speaking to press, Katie admitted that Sarah is just trying to have fun this year, becoming more like her mum, Debbie.

She said: “You will see a lot more of that this year and doing fun things. That is what I enjoy the most. I have really enjoy all the stuff you are going to see this year.”

Katie admitted that while Sarah sometimes makes questionable decisions, it all comes down to her wanting to “live life” however she wants.

So, while nothing was directly said about her leaving or staying, anything could happen in SoapLand.
