BBC Breakfast returned to TV screens on Thursday (16 October) with Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt on hosting duties, with the pair bringing TV viewers all of the latest headlines and news updates.

Among the guests who joined Charlie and Naga on the sofa during the episode were Sue Barker and Phil Tufnell, who discussed BBC’s A Question of Sport and their latest career ventures, including a 2026 live tour.

The interview was abruptly halted midway through, as Naga struggled to compose herself after a sneeze unfortunately occurred while she was trying to stir the conversation towards the latest tennis news.

“In terms of Brit hopefuls, we’ve got Jack Draper, obviously,” Naga began, before her comment was interrupted.

She continued: “There’s still a very close eye on Emma Radu – I’m so sorry!” with Charlie, Phil, and Sue all beginning to laugh at the host’s ill-timed sneeze.

“That never happens! That never happens!” Naga insisted as Phil and Sue continued to laugh. “On Emma Radacanu as well!”

She joked, “You’ve got to stop laughing at me,” as Charlie added, “What was the question?!”

The foursome managed to compose themselves, with their discussion concerning British tennis resuming, as Phil and Sue shared their thoughts on the professional players who appear promising.

However, Charlie wasn’t willing to let his co-host’s blunder slide, as he continued to poke fun at Naga moments later.

“So, Sue, did you ever sneeze at a crucial moment? In a commentary or just as a serve happened?” he quipped.

Sue and Phil fell about laughing at the question, with Phil reassuring Naga: “It was a very cute little sneeze!” as she jokingly responded: “It wasn’t my usual sneeze. My usual sneeze is a roar! I was being very polite.”

Naga and Charlie front BBC Breakfast every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, taking over from Sally Nugent and Jon Kay, who present the programme on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sunday editions of BBC Breakfast are presented by one or two presenters from the regular stand-in presenting team, which includes Ben Boulos, Luxmy Gopal, Nina Warhurst and Sarah Campbell.
