Strictly Come Dancing star back in hospital after undergoing heart surgery

Max George has updated his fans on his health status following the revelation that he had heart surgery. The 36 year old singer, who took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, shared an image on Instagram from his recent hospital visit on Wednesday. Back in December, Max underwent a procedure to have a pacemaker fitted due to a “block” in his heart, which he openly discussed with his supporters.
He later alerted his followers in February about a subsequent operation after experiencing “physical symptoms” in his chest. Today, Max uploaded a snapshot to Instagram showing a deserted corridor outside the Cardiology and Chest Clinic at an undisclosed hospital, choosing not to include a caption, reports Birmingham Live.

Since receiving his pacemaker last year, Max has spoken about the necessity for ongoing medical appointments.
In December, shortly after his initial surgery, he confided to his fans: “I’m in the hospital tomorrow for another check-up because I’ve been getting this like flicking feeling in the left hand side of my chest.”
Max sought advice from his fanbase regarding a concerning symptom, remarking: “Maybe it’s touching a nerve and it will go away in time, or they may have to move the wires slightly but I’m all ears because all I’m doing at the moment is you know doing research and stuff cause I know nothing about pacemakers.”
His encounter with cardiac complications started just weeks after he informed his followers that doctors had identified “issues” with his heart.
Max recounted his ordeal, saying: “I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart.”
He then let his fans know that he had pacemaker surgery a few weeks later. In an Instagram post, Max revealed: “Pacemaker is in. Operation took around 2 and a half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go … but I’m hoping everything turns out ok.”
After experiencing more health concerns, Max shared in February that he had undergone a second operation. He described: “A few weeks ago I had to go back into hospital after having some physical symptoms in my chest. It turned out that one of the leads was placed too far into my heart. The second pacemaker surgery took about 2 hours.”
Despite the setbacks, Max remained positive about his health struggles, commenting: “It’s been a setback, but it’s just one of those things. I’ve had a few complications the last couple of months but I’m having loads of tests to make sure everything is all good. It could take a few weeks / months for the inflammation of my heart to subside, but I’m sure I’ll be back on top form in no time.”
The following month, as he talked about getting “back to work,” Max stated that he was feeling much stronger, sharing in March: “Round 2 seems a distance memory … feeling so much stronger every day!”.
