Today Show host Savannah Guthrie has announced the return of fan favorite Hoda Kotb. She announced she was leaving in 2024 to focus on her two daughters and be more present. Yet, in what capacity is she returning, and when will it happen? Keep reading for more details.

Savannah Guthrie Announces Hoda Kotb’s Return

When Hoda Kotb announced she was leaving the Today Show in 2024, her colleagues and fans alike were devastated. They did not want her to go anywhere as she had been a fixture for many years, and everyone adored her. At the beginning of 2025, she said goodbye to her home at NBC and Jenna Bush Hager, with whom she co-hosted a morning show. She has been enjoying her life with her two daughters and just being a mom, but she has always stated she has other projects in the works. Now, Savannah Guthrie is sharing that Hoda will be back on the show.

Alongside Craig Melvin, Savannah had this to say about Hoda coming back to Today:

“She’s coming back. She’s going to come and reveal her next chapter on the Today Show. So you’ll see her there.”

For fans who have missed seeing Hoda’s face every day, this is their chance to have her back. Of course, the hope would be that she would be a more permanent fixture. Her former co-host and close friend, Jenna Bush Hager, is leaving for a short time to set up her book festival in Nashville. So, that would be a great Hoda opportunity, but it looks like she is not making that much of a commitment. For Craig Melvin, he joked that having Hoda there was as if she were returning from “vacation.”

Luckily, she has stayed close to her former colleagues, and they speak all the time. Jenna has stated she chats with her daily as she wanted to one-up her celebrity co-host, Andy Cohen. He had once been very close to Hoda Kotb, but now he rarely chats with her. Savannah did not say when Hoda will make her appearance, but hopefully it will be soon.

Fans Are Ready For Hoda

Having Hoda Kotb come back to the Today Show is a huge deal for fans. They have missed waking up to her, so even a brief appearance is welcomed. She is currently working on other endeavors, but that does not mean she should be a stranger to her old stomping grounds:
