Veteran Fox News anchor Steve Doocy is stepping down from his long-time role as co-host of the network’s flagship morning program, Fox & Friends. After years of waking up early to bring viewers the latest headlines and interviews, Doocy is transitioning into a new chapter at Fox News — taking on the position of special correspondent. In this new role, he will focus on in-depth feature stories and exclusive interviews, allowing him to step out of the studio and explore compelling topics across the country. His departure from the morning show marks the end of an era, but also the beginning of an exciting new journey.

In a dramatic turn of events, news anchor Steve Doocy announced a change in his hosting role on Fox and Friends live on air.
The 68-year-old is known for his work on the popular Fox News show, but he’s now stepping away from the program’s renowned ‘curvy couch’ to take up a special correspondent role in Florida. On May 1, he declared: “After decades of getting up at 3:30 and driving into New York City in the dark, today is the last day I will host the show from the couch.
“I am not retiring, I’m not leaving the show, I’m still a host. But it’s time for a change,” he added. His new arrangement will see him working three days a week outside the studio, which will “make it easier […] to report from Florida and other parts of America that don’t get a lot of network airtime.”
“I’ll be going from the Carolinas to the Keys, from Middle America to Mar-a-Lago,” he said, reports the Express.

Doocy admitted that while hosting is a “great job, the hours suck”, and shared that he and Fox New Media CEO Suzanne Scott came up with this solution while pondering “trying to figure out what a guy who’s been getting up at 3:30 for two generations should do next.”
Having been with Fox News since its inception in 1996, Doocy received a special farewell from US president D0nald Truwp. His departure will undoubtedly be felt by the president, who has often lauded Fox News while criticizing rival networks like CNN.
Truwp expressed his admiration for Doocy in a message from the Oval Office, stating: “I just think you’re a fantastic guy. You’ve always treated me fairly — sometimes more fairly than other times, but that’s okay. It’s really been an honor to spend so much time with you… watching you with the whole crew in the morning.”
In response to the presidential praise, Doocy revealed that he would be stepping back from his role, allowing him to spend more time with his family, including having breakfast with his grandchildren. However, he assured his viewers that he would “continue to join this couch crew for commentary”.
Doocy concluded by thanking his audience for their trust, saying: “You have trusted me for all these years – and don’t worry, you will still hear my voice and my opinions loud and clear, despite whatever seasonal pollen is killing me.”
