Coronation Street updates fans on Gail Chadwick tonight – four months on from her emotional exit scenes.
David and Shona Platt give fans a brief insight into Gail’s new life as they return from visiting her in France.
Fans have been missing the legendary character since she headed off for a fresh start with new husband Jesse on Christmas Day.
The Platts have also clearly struggled without their much-loved matriarch, as they’ve endured months of drama in her absence.

In tonight’s episode, David returns with Shona after seeing Gail in France and wastes no time before moaning: “I didn’t think I’d say this, but I’m glad to be back. Gail was doing my head in by the end of it.”
Shona defends Gail and points out how happy she is with Jesse, reassuring fans that all is still well with the Chadwick couple.
David scoffs: “If she’s happy, why does she have to ask us so many questions all the time?”
It turns out that Gail wanted all the dark details on recent events for her beleaguered family, including the house fire and Max Turner being sent to prison.

This was seemingly irritating for David, as he’d already tried to keep Gail updated from afar.
He says: “We sent texts, she knew all that.”
This line confirms that the Platts did eventually get in touch with Gail about their tough times, after initially deciding to keep her in the dark in February.
Sadly, the back-and-forth on Gail’s new life ends there as David and Shona soon get distracted by finding a half-naked Kit Green at Sarah’s flat, where they’ve been staying since the fire.
David is furious to find out that Sarah is now dating his nemesis, but with the new lovers making no apologies, will he have to learn to live with it?
Coronation Street airs these scenes tonight at 8pm on ITV1, or the episode is streaming early now on ITVX.
