CORONATION STREET SPOILER: Coronation Street CHAOS As Carla And Lisa Confront Becky In Explosive Return…But Is This The END For Swarla?

Actress Amy Cudden told ITV that the pair's engagement prompted her character's shock return just after her daughter Betsy's 18th birthday

Dramatic first-look images from the Coronation Street show the aftermath of Becky’s unexpected return from the dead.

In scenes filmed in a park, Carla (Alison King) and Lisa (Vicky Myers) can be seen having an emotional discussion just a week after getting engaged, while Lisa’s presumed dead wife looks on blankly.

The park holds personal significance too and is the one Lisa and Becky used to take their daughter Betsy to as a child.

The shocking storyline saw police officer Becky (Amy Cudden) return to the show four years after she was supposedly killed on duty.

While her return on Monday’s episode was unexpected, it had emerged that she was being investigated by an anti-corruption unit shortly before her apparent death after being hit by a car.

Now it remains to be seen as to why Becky faked her own death on the show, but it is clear that her return could spell disaster for Swarla’s relationship.

Actress Amy Cudden told ITV that the pair’s engagement prompted her character’s shock return just after her daughter Betsy’s 18th birthday.

She said: ‘Becky’s wife, Lisa, is about to get engaged and married to another woman, Carla.

‘It was dangerous for Becky to return before, but her primary objective is to be with her wife and daughter.

‘While there wasn’t a direct threat to that central family unit, she kept her distance.

‘Now that Carla is a clear threat and Lisa and Carla are deeply in love, Becky feels she must return to try and reclaim her family.’

On Monday night’s episode, Becky returned to the family home while Carla was investigating an alarm at the factory, simply saying: ‘Hello, Lise!’

Lisa was left so shocked that she dropped her glass of wine onto the carpet.

Amy explained that she did everything in her power to keep Becky’s return a secret as ‘there has been a lot of speculation’.

The actress revealed: ‘Obviously I didn’t want the fans of the show to lose any of the pleasure they’re going to get from the arrival of this character and all of the big feelings that are going to come along with that.

‘It would have felt very disrespectful to give the secret away. So I told my husband and my mum and some close family members and kept it at that.’

When asked if she believed Becky had been keeping tabs on her family during her apparent death, it was an easy answer for Amy.

She said: ‘Yes, absolutely. I think if you saw her “screen time,” it would be 98 hours a week looking at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and X, thinking about them.

‘Her life in Alicante is hollow without them; nothing matters unless she gets her family back.’
