Coronation Street Star Officially Reveals The Expected Duration Of Debbie’s Emotional Dementia Storyline – Giving Fans Insight Into How Long The Powerful Plot Will Unfold

Coronation Street star Sue Devaney has confirmed how long Debbie Webster’s dementia storyline will last.

The character has been diagnosed with young-onset dementia, and while she has been keeping this hidden from other residents (excluding Carl), this week she will finally reveal the truth.

Appearing on today’s Lorraine, Sue revealed that the storyline will be continuing for a few years yet.

“She’s not going anywhere yet, she’s not… I know the story’s going to go on well in 2027,” she shared. “Debbie’s not going anywhere, and you think, ‘Oh she’s being diagnosed with this, that’s it’. But it’s young-onset dementia, it’s how she deals with that.”

Scenes this week have already seen a concerning turn for Debbie after she lashed out at Brody Michaelis and a friend at the Chariot Square Bar, kicking them out before also clashing with Bernie Winter.

Bernie will grow increasingly concerned for Debbie, and after getting overwhelmed and collapsing, Debbie finally reveals the truth about her dementia to everyone.

“Debbie plainly tells Kevin she knows exactly what’s wrong with her – she has dementia,” our Corrie source has said. “She can’t fob him off after passing out. It’s a huge bombshell for Kevin, Abi and Ronnie as they struggle to process this shattering news.”

Earlier this year, Sue opened up about her feelings when she learned about the storyline, admitting: “There was a mixture of a lot of things.

“This was my first job when I was 16 and I left after a year and now it will be coming to an end again. But I also realised this was a really important story to tell and is a really fantastic opportunity to act.

“Some papers claimed that I was furious about the story, which was completely untrue. The only reason I was concerned about the storyline was because I wanted to be sure I could do it justice. It is an honour and privilege to be given this sort of storyline.”
