Coronation Street fans are buzzing with theories as they believe they’ve cracked the mystery behind Mick Michaelis and Kit Green’s suspicious past — and all eyes are now on next week’s highly anticipated flashback episode.
Viewers have picked up on several subtle clues and odd behaviours between the two men, suggesting that they share a much deeper and possibly darker connection than they’ve let on. Their awkward glances, evasive conversations, and moments of tension have sparked speculation that something significant — and potentially criminal — occurred years ago.
Theories are flying across social media, with some fans convinced the pair were involved in a cover-up or life-altering event that’s about to resurface. Others believe Kit and Mick might be related or were once enemies forced into an uneasy alliance.
With ITV teasing a special flashback episode next week, long-held secrets look set to explode into the present — and fans can’t wait to see how it all unravels.

Viewers of Coronation Street will soon find out what Mick Michaelis and Kit Green are hiding, and how their pasts are linked on the ITV soap.
But some fans think they have already figured out their secret, and what Mick has on the dodgy detective. It had been teased earlier this year that Mick and his wife Lou had a mystery connection to Kit.
But it’s only scenes this week and next that we actually see the trio together, with bombshells set to be revealed. We know the trio have a mystery past and go way back, with a flashback episode airing next week set to expose this past.
We will find out how they know each other and what happened way back when, and how it shaped their lives. Amid a big mystery surrounding how Mick and Kit are known to each other and why Kit is acting oddly around him, there’s also the possible DNA bombshell that Kit is the biological father of Mick and Lou’s son Brody.
Just this week we saw Kit uncomfortable around Mick and having to question him for a crime at the police station. It was during Wednesday’s episode, that dropped on ITVX in the morning, that we got a glimpse that something was being kept under wraps.

As revealed in the spoilers a week earlier, Kit barely interrogated Mick and was clearly uneasy about the whole process. Mick was amused as Kit failed to do his normal interrogating and instead put in minimal effort before letting the criminal go.
After this, Kit was once again nervous when Mick cornered him and told him they needed to have a chat. Mick claimed they were “mates”, with Kit stating this was “a long time ago”, while Mick added Kit had “changed”.
He then told Kit: “I heard you had become a copper. First I thought no way, he’d never do that. It just shows you how wrong you can be about a person. Not the first time though. Happy days, hey mate?”
Later in the episode the pair bumped into each other again, and it’s then that Kit realised Mick and Lou were married and had moved to the area. Kit made it clear he wanted nothing to do with him, but Mick warned: “That’s the thing about the past, it always comes back to haunt you.”
Now, viewers think they have figured out what happened between Mick and Kit and what led to them going their separate ways. They think they have predicted what it is that Mick clearly has on Kit, and what could be exposed on the ITV soap next week in the special flashback episode.

Corrie fans think Kit might be lying about his identity(Image: ITV)
The key theory, other than the suggestion that they are secretly brothers, is that Kit might be lying about his identity, and it could be bad news for his mother Bernie Winter. Fans are wondering given Mick actor Joe Layton’s facial resemblance to former character and Kit’s brother Paul Foreman, played by Peter Ash, perhaps a DNA twist is in the works.
Viewers are suggesting that perhaps Mick is the real Christopher Green, Bernie’s long-lost son, and Kit is an imposter. One theory online read: “Possibly Mick is the real son to Gemma’s mum (just can’t think of her name).”
This idea was backed by a number of fans, with one writing: “He does look similar to Paul,” as another said: “Bernie. I also think the same.” A third fan said: “Yes!! I think this too!!” as a fourth posted: “He’s the real baby that was adopted.”
