Coronation Street stalwart Jack P Shepherd, who has played David Platt on the ITV soap since 2000, has admitted he doesn’t keep in touch with his former co-stars
Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd has confessed he gives ex-Corrie colleagues the cold shoulder once they bid farewell to the cobbles.
The revelation came as fans fretted over his continued friendship with co-star Colson Smith, who’s set to exit after 14 years as Craig Tinker. During their On The Sofa podcast, Jack reassured listeners that he and Colson would stay in touch.
He said: “Because we’re still doing the podcast I’ll still have a relationship with him.” Co-host Ben Price, also from Corrie, cheekily asked whether Jack would cut ties if Colson ditched the podcast too.
Unwavering, Jack admitted it was likely, but left some room open for future contact: “I don’t think so, unless anything materialises in the future.” Ben playfully insisted Jack would chat up Colson in case of unpaid debts, while Jack mentioned he might reconnect “if their paths crossed again”.
Jack pondered: “What are we going to do? “, with Colson noting they mostly talk shop and footie.

Their group chat is also a key communication lifeline among the trio, reports the Liverpool Echo. This isn’t a first for Jack; he’s known for not keeping in touch with other former Coronation Street stars too.
On the podcast, Jack P. Shepherd shared that he hadn’t been in touch with Helen Worth, who played his on-screen mum Gail Platt in Corrie. He admitted to not being one for reaching out to past co-stars, saying: “No, I usually don’t; I don’t.
“If the opportunity arises, and they phone me, I’ll answer,” which had his co-hosts cracking up. But Jack was quick to point out that this is how he operates across the board, adding: “That’s just all walks of life. I don’t ring anyone really. Who do you ring?”
There’s no word yet on when Colson Smith will make his departure from the show, but he did let slip recently that he found out about his character Craig Tinker’s upcoming exit last year. Taking to social media, Colson expressed his feelings: “Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinkers time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025.

“I’ve LOVED every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the GREATEST street in the world.” I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation street.
“I’ve learnt pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy.
“For me, this is just the end of the beginning. I genuinely can’t wait to see what chapter 2 has in store for me. LONG LIVE THE COBBLES!”
