With 10 awards under his belt, Emmerdale‘s Danny Miller is one of Inside Soap’s most decorated stars.

“I had no idea I was one of your top winners – it’s actually been a long time since I’ve won anything!” laughs Danny when he joins us for a chat about his success.
“Awards voted for by the public are always humbling as they are the people who watch the show. I’m honoured and always have been – I don’t think that’s ever left me and I don’t think it ever will.”
Second to only EastEnders’ Lacey Turner in awards total, Danny is a soap powerhouse. And with a dangerous new husband and a smitten ex-husband keeping the drama coming for Aaron, Danny could soon be adding to his gong total – something he tells us he’s more than up for…
Hi Danny! You won your first Inside Soap award for Best Actor aged just 19, which is amazing – how do you look back on that now?
“I think it takes you getting older and more experienced to realise how big of a responsibility that was at that age to get the stories I got – and how flattering it was for people to recognise you for that.
“I look at someone like Katie Hill [Sarah Sugden] who is so young and so amazing and think, cherish it whilst it’s there, because it took me two kids and one on the way to look back and think what a busy and amazing time I had – it just flew by!”

You were named our Soap Superstar in 2018, partly in acknowledgment of your charity Once Upon A Smile, which you set up after the death of Emmerdale producer Gavin Blyth. Was it nice to be celebrated for that side of your work?
“Absolutely. Don’t get me wrong, awards and stuff are amazing, but the charity will always go down as my greatest honour, the fact that I’ve kept Gavin in my memory day in, day out with my work there.”
As well as Best Actor, you are nominated this year for Best Partnership with Ryan Hawley for Aaron and Robert – do you hope you can relive old times by lifting that trophy again?
“It’d be nice to be back up there and retrace those steps. It’s been lovely working together again and it all comes quite naturally to me and Ryan, and even though he’s had a six-year break, it feels like he’s never left. Fingers crossed one day we can share another award. Who knows?”

ITV
You’ve obviously been to many an Inside Soap Awards, do you have happy memories?
“Oh everyone loves going to the Inside Soap Awards. It’s great to celebrate and catch up with others and speak to the people who do the same job as you but just in a different bit of the country! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be there again this year.”
