Last week in Emmerdale, viewers watched in shock as Joe Tate was violently pushed out of a window — and now the person responsible has been revealed. Dawn Fletcher has come forward, admitting to being behind the attack that left Joe in a coma with a serious brain injury. With police now officially treating the case as an attempted murder investigation, the big question on everyone’s mind is: will Dawn face serious consequences and end up behind bars?
Actress Olivia Bromley, who portrays Dawn, has spoken out about the storyline, insisting that what happened was never intentional. According to her, the incident was nothing more than a tragic “accident” that spiralled out of control during a highly emotional moment. But will that defence be enough to keep Dawn out of prison? With the pressure mounting and investigators digging deeper, fans are left wondering whether the truth will be enough to save her — or if she’ll take the fall regardless. As the drama intensifies, the path ahead for Dawn is looking increasingly uncertain.

Dawn pushed Joe in Emmerdale
The big reveal came tonight (Monday May 12) when Dawn confessed she was behind Joe’s attack. Joe had spent rather a long time making enemies out of half the village so any one of them was out to get him.
On Thursday May 8 Joe got his comeuppance during a big bash at Home Farm. Firstly the police arrived to speak to him in relation to spiking Noah. Then Dawn found out what he had done – including stealing Caleb’s kidney and threatening Clemmie. And finally Joe was pushed out of a window.
He was rushed to hosptial and suffered a broken pelvis and a bleed on the brain. As doctors fought to save his life, the police began investigating – unsure whether it was a murder case or just that of attempted murder.
All eyes were on Billy. As the scorned husband of Joe’s lover Dawn, he was prime suspect No.1. But then Dawn gave him an alibi – she said they were in bed together.
Billy was confused why she would lie for him – and how she could be so sure he didn’t do it. But then Dawn confessed she knew it wasn’t hime because she had pushed Joe.

Was it an accident?
Olivia Bromley, who plays Dawn, spoke to Emmerdale Insider and other media. She insisted it wasn’t a vindictive push at all.
“Well, I would say it’s a classic crime of passion, really. Obviously she has given up everything for this man which is possibly a bit of a silly decision. She is just so overwhelmed by this situation. Also Dawn is someone who doesn’t always think about what she does, she is quite rash.
“In the moment, suddenly the scales have fallen from her eyes and she’s seen this man that she just thought was so different and then she finds out what he did to Clemmie and I think it was that moment of lioness mother power.
“I think it’s a pure accident. It wasn’t like ‘I’m going to kill you’, it just happens.”

Will Dawn go to prison in Emmerdale after she pushed Joe?
Olivia is unsure what the future holds for Dawn – or whether she’ll have to leave Emmerdale…
“I think with Dawn constantly the days could be numbered in many ways,” she said.
“She’s murdered someone before, she’s killed Malone, but that was self-defence. Whenever Dawn does something that is really terrible I think there’s always a heart behind it. But whether she’ll go down for it this time, I don’t know. We’ll find out I guess!”
And what about if Joe survives? Will she be worried he’ll take revenge?
“I think she is worried about that, but her main concern is to protect her family. The biggest thing she might lose is her children if she’s been involved in a violent crime like this and potentially killed someone, she is very worried about losing her children.
“That’s the constant thing with someone like Dawn, she hates herself for what she’s done, but she’s got to scramble to keep this family together. She’s got a lot to lose, everything she’s built. She could be in prison just like that.”
