DRAMATIC: Loose Women Judge Katie Piper Shares HEARTBREAKING STORY That Even the “Toughest Critics Find Deeply Worrying”
Countless stars have appeared on Loose Women over the years and each has left their mark on the panel, whether that be with tears or laughter. Katie Piper, who has appeared on the ITV daytime programme since 2021, admitted she hopes to never be disappointed when it comes to interviewing guests on the show. Thankfully, this didn’t happen when Neighbours legend Jason Donovan sat down with four presenters earlier this year. The 57-year-old first found fame when he joined the Australian soap as Scott Robinson in 1985. Katie, 41, recalled growing up watching the former soap star on her TV screen as a child, but wasn’t sure what he would be like when they came face-to-face.
Detailing which guests have surprised her the most, the presenter exclusively told Express.co.uk: “We’ve had so many amazing guests on. Funnily enough, sometimes it’s having people on that you’ve admired from afar. We had Jason Donovan on and I grew up with him being Scott Ramsey and I went and saw him in the West End in Joseph. When you meet people that you’ve admired, you just hope that they’re really nice and he was everything I wanted him to be. It was so amazing to interview him and for him to not disappoint.”
The activist also praised podcaster Kelsey Parker, who appeared on the programme not long after her husband, The Wanted singer Tom Parker, died from a brain tumour.
Katie said: “Loose Women can be a mixture of light-hearted and emotional. We had Kelsey Parker on after her partner passed away and she was such a tower of strength. I really admired her and listening to her story as a mum. I love that range that it can be something really funny but then also something really heartfelt and serious.”
The mum-of-two praised Loose Women for representing diverse women and empowering them to express their true selves on screen.
I think the beauty of the show and one of the things I’m most proud of is that it celebrates women of all different ages and backgrounds. It’s not scripted and we’re not told what to say or shoehorned into an on-screen persona. We can say what we want and I think that’s really important as women.
“I really like that part of the show. You don’t have to agree with each other because that’s real life. It’s important to have healthy, educated and informed debates and that’s more interesting for the viewer.”
Katie recently teamed up with Haliborange, a brand known for its vitamin and mineral supplements, to support the launch of their YoungerMinds Night Time gummies. Designed for children aged 6 to 16, the gummies aim to support sleep, cognitive focus, and psychological well-being.”
Expressing her enthusiasm about collaborating with the supplement brand, Katie said: “I’ve got two young daughters so when I heard about this range, I thought it was something my children could benefit from. In recent years we’ve had so many positive conversations about the benefit of exercise and nutrition for younger children but not so much sleep.
“Sleep is all you talk about when you have a baby and a toddler but that conversation peters out when your kids get to my children’s ages. Sleep isn’t something that’s a fixed things, different stresses and changes in their lives affect both their sleep throughout the night and their bedtime routine. When I heard about these gummies, I thought I’ve found a solution.”
