Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) makes a much-anticipated return to EastEnders this month, as she awaits trial for the murder of fiancé Reiss Colwell’s (Jonny Freeman) late wife Debbie.
Sonia has been behind bars for months after she was wrongly accused of the d.e.a.t.h, with only us viewers privy to the identity of the real killer.
Reiss smothered poor, comatose Debbie in the belief that her d.e.a.t.h would cure his monetary woes, as he’d no longer have to pay for her expensive private health care.
Her parents instantly believed that something was fishy with the situation, and informed him that as she’d updated her will prior to her death, he’d been left with nothing.
Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) was adamant that Reiss had played a part, and in a desperate attempt to free her sister, confronted him over it.
Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) had found some incriminating CCTV footage from the night of Debbie’s d.e.a.t.h, showing Reiss scurrying out of the care home.

The video was just the ticket for him to confess, and he promised that he would hand himself in after he’d collected the pillow he’d used from a lock-up storage unit.
He told Bianca that if she gave it to the police, Sonia would be released from prison fairly quickly, given his fingerprints would be all over the item.
He would then go on the run – but in a cruel twist he slammed the container door shut on Bianca, and she’s been held in captivity ever since.
In upcoming scenes, Reiss rallies the Save Our Sonia troops together at The Queen Vic ahead of her trial to discuss how they’re going to move forward.
Riddled with guilt, he launched the campaign in the hope he could convince officers that she wasn’t responsible.
It soon becomes clear that not everyone shares the same sense of enthusiasm.

As new pictures show, he soon heads to the prison to speak with a downtrodden Sonia.
She’s dreading the first day of the trial, and her pregnancy is taking its toll.As she takes to the stand, she anxiously awaits to hear her fate, blissfully unaware of the situation Reiss has put her in.
Will Bianca manage to escape in the nick of time? Will justice prevail?
