There’s set to be a new family rivalry in Albert Square following an instance of major betrayal on EastEnders.
The BBC soap recently delivered a devastating set of episodes during its 40th anniversary celebrations, with Kathy Beale being revealed as the culprit in the Christmas Day attack of her daughter-in-law, Cindy.
The leadup to the big reveal saw multiple characters in the firing line, with both Gina and Anna Knight – Cindy’s daughters with George – being considered as possible suspects. With eyes on everybody, Gina’s whereabouts on Christmas Day came into question.

It was eventually revealed that she had slept with Freddie Slater, an act that left Anna feeling betrayed given her own romantic interest in him. Despite the tension, the sisters have had to bond following the explosion at The Vic, both their workplace and home.
In scenes set to air next week, the siblings will go head-to-head as they both apply to work behind the bar at Harry’s Barn, though Nicola Mitchell stresses that she only has enough space for one of them.
She playfully teases that the pair will have to compete for the job, though the duo get a shock after it’s revealed that the application process will be handled by Nicola’s son, Harry. Ever the one for mischief, Harry takes great joy in winding Gina up.

As tempers flare between all involved parties in the room, will Gina be able to keep her cool in the face of blatant jesting, and which one of the girls – if any – will get the coveted role at Harry’s Barn?…
Whilst Nicola deferred the employment side of the business to her son, the fiery character will have her own problems to deal with after her shady past comes back to haunt her, with the disappearance of Shireen Bashar – Harry’s ex-girlfriend – being revisited.
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
