Emmerdale fans were treated to a number of eerie flashforwards on the ITV soap this New Year, hinting at multiple d3aths and tragic scenes ahe@d with few details revealed

There could be a d3ath fast-approaching on Emmerdale if a new flashforward theory is anything to go by.

One theory suggests a timeline for the recently teased future storylines, and it could mean a shocking and tragic d3ath is imminent. Of course something in one particular preview could give this away too due to the time of year you’d expect to see the backdrop.

That said, something about the order in which the clips were shown has left some viewers convinced there’s significance to how it will all play out. In the flashforward scene we saw the characters involved counting down to midnight, for the new year, in the pub.

Each time they got to a number, from five to one, the camera panned to a different character, sometimes more than one character. We would then see a flashforward involving those particular characters play out.

For Mackenzie Boyd we saw a glimpse of him looking terrified while running through the woods, while Cain Dingle’s clip was of him mourning someone at their funeral – yet to be identified. Then there was Cain’s brother Caleb Miligan who looks set to face grave peril.

In his clip he was shown hooked up to machines, flatlining in hospital – and he looked pretty lifeless. The camera then panned to a ton of extras before the flashforward revealed a body being dumped in a river.

Finally we saw the camera pan to new enemies Dawn Taylor and Joe Tate, before we saw a glimpse of someone trapped underneath some ice. It appeared to be a lake that had iced over, with a hand shown slamming on the ice in an attempt to break free.

There’s still so much to be revealed with the possible d3ath victims not revealed either, amid a handful of exits being revealed. But something about the way the New Year montage aired left fans convinced there was a clue.

One theory suggested that the number read out before each clip indicated when we might see that clip. Could the scenes be in reverse order, with the icy stunt first to air, suggesting a d3ath is on the way very soon?

Could the number represent the month of the year we might see the twists onscreen? This would indicate Mack’s forest chase would air in July as it was number seven, while Caleb’s was five which means his potential demise could air in May, just in time for a possible spring stunt week.
Cain’s clip aired after he shouted out the number three, so if this theory is correct someone’s funeral will air in March while the icy stunt was last, meaning zero or one. It is winter currently and there’s rumours an icy stunt was already filmed weeks ago, so the timeline would certainly fit this idea.
