Emmerdale fans have began to fear Steph actress Georgia Jay is leaving the show after spotting clue.

Georgia Jay joined Emmerdale last year as the daughter of Caleb and Ruby. But her welcome storyline became very dark when it was revealed that Steph wasn’t Caleb’s biological daughter but instead was conceived when her grandad sexually abused her mum.

Since learning the truth Steph has been struggling to cope, and now fans fear that she may be leaving the show already.

Steph was planning cosmetic surgery

Recently, Steph was planning on undergoing cosmetic surgery, as she hates that she may look anything like Anthony.

Last week (Tuesday April 29) Steph confirmed her appointment for a nose job, and then immediately proceeded to book a brow lift too.

And when she realised she would be out of action for a while, she created a false story to her parents who believed she was heading to stay with an old friend for a while.

Although Steph was talked out of having the surgery, and is now in therapy, will she eventually decide surgery is the best option?

And if Steph goes through with the cosmetic surgery, then when she returns she may look entirely different. And fans fear that means we will be getting a different actress playing the role.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: “Is Steph about to be recast? This would be the first time a British Soap did plastic surgery as an ‘excuse’ to change an actor?”

Fans worried

Speculation was rife Steph is either leaving or will be replaced elsewhere online. On a Reddit thread, one commented: “It does seem like they’ll send Steph off on an extended mental health holiday soon.”

Another hoped it was not true: “Oh I hope they don’t! I really didn’t like her character before, but the actress is actually really fab and such a perfect casting for Ruby’s daughter. It took ages to take to her and I think replacing her would be a disaster.

“Also, The fact I have forgotten how much I disliked the character before and now feel for her is a testament to her acting ability.”

Is Emmerdale star Georgia Jay leaving?

While as of this moment there has been no official confirmation that Georgia is leaving the show, soaps usually try to keep cast announcements quiet.

When she first arrived on our screens, it took a while for fans to warm to Steph. But in the end many of them love her now, and the thought of anyone else playing the character doesn’t sit right with them.

Earlier this week, Georgia took a trip down memory lane on her Instagram stories. She posted throwback snaps from her very first day on set, and another of her working alongside co-star Mike Parr.

And while she could have just been reminiscing on her time so far, could it have been a hint that she has left the show?

Another fear comes as Georgia has also been posting on her social media from Miami – not the UK.

Of course the Emmerdale star could just be enjoying a well-earned holiday! But with her character central to the show at the moment, fans have been left concerned.
