From Bear and his mood swings to Mack’s schemes, and Ray and his threats, this week’s Emmerdale review has us feeling a bit exhausted by all the men. They’re just all so emotional. Hysterical even.
They’ve been causing a fuss, creating a scene and generally being way too unstable for our liking, this week.
Whether it’s arguing over cannabis plants, exchanging some very nasty insults, lying about wedding plans, and spending money they don’t have, the chaps have not been behaving well.
Thank goodness for Celia, eh?
Emmerdale review: We love Celia but we don’t love Ray. And what’s going on with Bear? All the men have been causing trouble
We do love Robert though!
What’s wrong with Bear?

Bear and Paddy’s nasty words
Bear and Paddy’s relationship reached breaking point this week. And frankly we’re not surprised. Bear’s been so very nasty to his son, while Paddy has been handling things with his usual brand of bumbling. And then poor Paddy got attacked by a vicious dog, and Bear rushed to his side.
For a moment we thought things would be better, but actually what Bear did was attack Paddy himself – with cruel, hurtful words. And then he left Emmerdale – lying about where he was going – leaving Paddy upset and us viewers totally baffled.
What on earth is going on with Bear? Is there something sinister behind his odd behaviour? We’re quite intrigued.

Gabby and Vinny’s doomed wedding
Gabby and Vinny’s wedding is approaching like storm clouds on the horizon. It is not going to end well and we can’t handle the idea of Gabby having her heart broken AGAIN.
But we did laugh when Vinny was assuming she’d be drinking out of the Dingle welly. Gabby’s reaction was pure gold. Unlike the welly she’ll be supping from.

Mack spoils everything – even Ross!
Ross Barton is a joy. We’re really enjoying his sweet protectiveness over his new brother Lewis and his prickly attempts to get to know him better. He is a gift to Emmerdale and we need to protect him. And that is why giving him a storyline with Mack is the worst thing that could have happened.
Ross is a bad boy with a good heart. Mack is the opposite – he pretends to be a fine, upstanding family man when actually he’s completely lacking in any sort of morality. They don’t work together and the marijuana storyline is totally YAWN.
But saying all that, how good was the twist that Robert had sold the cannabis? Loved it!
WE LOVE CELIA! (Credit: ITV/ Composite EI!)
Emmerdale review: Celia arrived
And we love her already. The hat! The stick! The attitude! She’s like a proper Emmerdale baddie and we can’t get enough of it.
Ray arrived
And we hate him already.
Well, we don’t hate him. Joe Absolom, who plays the newcomer, is fabulous and Ray is a sinister villain. But there have been so many characters like him in Emmerdale before, and it’s hard to get excited about yet another bad man showing up.

Emmerdale review: So many men
In fact, it’s hard to get excited about any more men arriving, whether bad or good.
We realise we’re sounding a bit like a broken record on this subject but we’ve lost some fabulous female characters this year. Suzy, Leyla, Gail, Wendy, Amy, Brenda, even Cathy.
And with the exception of Celia, the only newcomers (and returners) have been men – Lewis, Robert, Kammy, and now Ray. Plus there’s Joe’s sidekick Shaun, and troubled teen Dylan is due to return too. The balance is off and it feels odd.

Emmerdale review: The real Robert Sugden is BACK!
Just to be fickle, though, having whinged about how many men have arrived, we’re loving the return of Robert! Specifically we’re loving the return of manipulative, untrustworthy Robert.
Him teaming up with Kim is brilliant. BRILLIANT!
The only thing that could make it better would be the return of Andy Sugden, too…
