Emmerdale fans are convinced they know the father of Ruby’s daughter Steph after she made a harrowing confession to Chas Dingle on the soap tonight

Emmerdale fans have rumbled a harrowing DNA twist on the ITV soap as Ruby made a confession tonight.

In a rare admission, Ruby told Chas that Caleb might not be the father of her daughter Steph. Viewers know that Ruby was sexually abused by her father Anthony and there has been much speculation that Anthony could be the real father of Ruby’s daughter.

In scenes that aired this evening, Ruby confessed to Chas that her husband might not be Steph’s dad, leading fans to speculate that Anthony could actually be the real father of Steph, who has no idea what her grandfather is like.

Earlier this week, she was thrilled to receive a special present from her grandfather, but Ruby didn’t want him to touch her daughter, and accidentally broke the necklace. It only made Steph angry at her mum, and closer to Anthony.

One fan wrote: “PLEEEEEASE don’t let Anthony be Steph’s dad, he’s vile. Makes my skin crawl. Proper feeling it for Ruby #Emmerdale,” whilst a second added: “i wonder if anthony molested ruby and steph is the result… maybe i’m putting 2 and 2 together and making 5.” A third shared: “OMG Steph is gonna be Ruby’s dad!!! #emmerdale.”

When she joined the ITV soap, Ruby actress Beth Cordingley revealed if she was anything like her character.

She said: “I’d like to think I am a lot kinder than Ruby in real life and more of a people pleaser. That said, when I told my mum Ruby had an impulsive temper, she laughed and told me: ‘That won’t be a problem for you to act out!’

“I genuinely have been so lucky. I have been blown away by how gorgeous everyone is. It’s a really happy atmosphere on set and it’s also incredibly seductive as it makes you never want to leave.”

Teasing what was coming up, she added: “That’s the best thing about being an actress. I don’t have to make the decisions. It would be great though if she stays with Caleb. And I‘d love her to carry on making trouble. Being nice is boring.”

Of course, Ruby did end up staying with Caleb – but it seems like there are even more harrowing scenes ahead if it comes out what happened to Ruby when she was younger at the hands of her father.
