Emmerdale fans have been begging for Andy Sugden to return to the village ever since he left almost 10 years ago.

Kelvin Fletcher made his debut as the adoptive son of Jack and Sarah Sugden back in 1996 but in 2016, the actor announced his decision to leave the soap after a 20-year stint.

He confirmed that he would be focusing on his career as a rally driver full-time, which was one of the major factors leading to his departure.

However, Kelvin and his wife Liz Fletcher have recently became hosts of ITV’s new vodcast Off Script… Coronation Street and Emmerdale which celebrates the two long running, celebrated soap operas and offers the ultimate download on life behind the scenes on the cobbles and in the dales.

On Friday (April 4), Kelvin and Liz welcomed Emmerdale’s Nicola Wheeler, who plays Nicola King, to the show to open up about all gossip from the Yorkshire village.

After watching an exclusive clip of his on-screen daughter Sarah Sugden, played by Katie Hill, getting pulled over by the police, Kelvin said: “She’s keeps misbehaving a lot is Sarah. I’m not happy about this. Every week I’m watching, I first saw her flirting with Kammy, who’s up to no good.”

Kelvin’s wife Liz interrupted: “I mean that’s your on-screen daughter and it looks like she’s going to get into a bit of trouble.” Nicola jumped in to suggest: “Maybe you need to come back and sort her out.”

The actor was left speechless, as Liz joked: “And an exclusive clip.” Nicola added: “I’m offering you a job Kelvin. I’m in that position now at work, I’ve been there how many years? You can come back, have an affair with Nicola…”

Swiftly moving on the conversation, Kelvin went on to ask Nicola if there was a storyline she’d like for her character.

She replied: “I love working with Nick [Miles, who plays her on-screen husband Jimmy King] but I like to have a dabble with other people, you know.”

Soap fans will know that Andy is the father of teenager Sarah who he shares with Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb).
