Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle suffers ‘HORRENDOUS’ Attɑcⱪ as S£XUĄLĪTY Secret Exposed
Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle (played by Bradley Johnson) has been struggling with his s3xuality in recent weeks and has continued attempting to ignore the questions he has about himself. Despite being in a relationship with Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), Vinny tried to kiss his friend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah). Still searching for answers, Vinny stumbles across an online chat forum and begins speaking to a man called Mike (Macaulay Cooper), who claims to be going through the same thing.
The pair eventually meet in person, with their bond growing stronger as Vinny appreciates having someone to confide in. But Vinny is stunned when Mike then turns up at his door, claiming that his wife has kicked him out. Vinny struggles to respond after Mike hints at an attr@ction between them, but is left terrified when his behaviour suddenly changes. Vinny’s world comes crashing down when Mike demands access to his bank account and reveals he has recorded all of their conversations. The situation escalates when Mike turns physical, att@cking Vinny in his own home.
Discussing the dark storyline, Bradley told Express Online and other press: “We see a shift in Mike’s body language and his attitude. He starts saying some really horrible and hurtful stuff to Vinny. He beats Vinny up. It’s a horrendous sort of beating.
“Vinny’s on the floor and having flashbacks to everything that happened with him and Paul. Mike demands that he sends him £10,000 or he’ll expose his secret to Gabby.”
The soap star continued: “What I think is so cruel is that Mike’s done, he’s secretly recorded Vinny on every meeting that they’ve had. When Vinny is on the floor, scared and vulnerable, he plays this recording back to him and we see Vinny’s world completely collapse.”
Opening up about the challenges of playing Vinny in such a vulnerable state, Bradley said: “It was really hard to play, especially from playing Vinny for the past six years, he’s been through a lot.
“As soon as you think he’s building himself back up to this confident and bubbly character, someone comes and knocks him straight back down. It was really hard and emotional.”
The star added: “We filmed it last week and I felt so down afterwards. It was horrible but it’s the reality of what happens. He’s just trying to work out who he is and the one person he confides in turns out to be this horrible, nasty person.”
Despite being in “complete shock” when he was informed about Vinny’s s3xuality storyline, Bradley is now excited about where it is going.
He said: “We’ve got some really exciting stuff coming up, it’s hard. Without giving too much away, there’s a lot more to come with Vinny finding out who he is as a person and it’s really exciting.
“When I first got told I didn’t have a clue that it was going to end up or be as big as it’s going to be. It’s a story I’m really excited to tell and I think it’s going to be shocking, emotional and exciting for the audience to watch.”
