A Sky News star has made a big announcement, confirming they are stepping away from the network after a decade on air. Political Correspondent Tamara Cohen revealed she is leaving Sky News after 10 years in Westminster, six prime ministers and some of the most turbulent moments in modern British politics. The journalist shared the news in an emotional statement posted on X, confirming that her most recent week at the channel would also be her last.

She wrote: “Some work news… This was my first week at Sky and now it’s my last! After 10 years and six prime ministers, I’ve decided to hang up my microphone. It has been a privilege to do this job, whether it’s on the days of big political drama, or telling the stories that bubble under the surface. Thanks to the many people who’ve helped me along the way; have watched and shared their experiences; and, of course, my wonderful colleagues in the political team.”

The announcement immediately sparked an outpouring of support from viewers, many of whom were stunned by the news.

One fan wrote: “Noooooo!!! Tamara you are brilliant – so sad to see you go… Wishing you very best in new career xx”.

Another added: “Tamara, you’ll always be a Sky legend. All the best for what comes next! Xxx”, while a third commented: “All the best for what comes next in your journey Tamara.”

Tamara joined Sky News in 2016 and quickly became a familiar face on screens, providing sharp political reporting and analysis from Westminster during one of the most volatile periods in recent history.

Her coverage spanned the run-up to the 2016 United Kingdom European Union membership referendum, the fallout from Brexit, the fall of David Cameron, the turbulent premiership of Boris Johnson, and the 2017 and 2019 general election campaigns.

During her time at the broadcaster, Tamara broke a number of exclusive stories and interviewed senior political figures, including the Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition.

Tamara’s departure comes amid wider changes at Sky News, following the recent exit of presenter Ashna Hurynag, who announced last week that she was also moving on to a new role.

Ashna, who joined Sky in 2020, was given a surprise on-air send-off by colleagues, with a montage of memorable moments played live during the broadcast.

Posting afterwards, she wrote: “Breaking news! Thank you to the team for the surprise send-off as I bid farewell to Sky News. The people are what makes it the best place to work.

“I cannot thank them enough for their support, kindness and friendship over the years. See you on a screen near you soon.”

It also follows the departure of fellow Sky News presenter Sally Lockwood, who quit earlier this year after seven years on screen. She announced the move on social media, revealing she would be relocating to the Middle East.
