EMOTIONAL OUTBURST: BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood ISSUES Deeply Moving MESSAGE to Co-Star Sally Nugent

BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood wasted no time giving co-star Sally Nugent a warm welcome as she made a return to the beloved show.
The seasoned journalist, 54, who usually presents BBC Breakfast from Monday to Wednesday alongside Jon Kay, was notably absent the past few weeks, with a number of stars stepping in for her.

While there had been no on-air explanation for Sally’s disappearance, the star made her grand return and made a comeback on our TV screens on Tuesday (August 26) morning.
Sally took on presenting duties alongside co-host Jon Kaye, as they again presented the day’s top stories from the iconic red sofa.
However, as the duo crossed live to Carol, who was ready to dive into her usual segment, the weather quickly turned her attention to Sally as she admitted: “It’s great to have you back, Sal.”
Sally was pleased to be back on the show, replying, “Thank you. It’s lovely to be back.”
Later on in the show, Jon also sent a sweet message to his co-star as he said, “It’s lovely to have you back.” Sally had a huge smile on her face as she replied: “Aw, it’s lovely to be back.”
Fans at home have been left delighted by her return as they flooded social media to share their reaction. One viewer wrote on X: “Sally looks nice and tanned after her holiday #bbcbreakfast.” Another commented: “@BBCBreakfast Welcome back Sally #BBCBreakfast.” Meanwhile, one added, “It’s great to have Sally back.”
It comes as fellow BBC Breakfast host Ben Thompson disclosed live on air that one of the guests was battling cancer.
During Monday’s (August 25) episode, Ben and Luxmy Gopal talked with postman John Wilkins about the BBC’s Make a Difference Awards, an event honouring individuals who make a positive impact on others’ lives.
The hosts welcomed John, who had been nominated for an award. However, things took a turn as Ben revealed that John wasn’t just a pillar of the community but was also fighting leukaemia.
Ben asked: “John, am I right in saying you’re waiting for medical treatment?” John confirmed: “I do, yeah, I have been diagnosed with leukaemia.”
“You’re doing all of this extra stuff, looking after these other people, and you’re still waiting for treatment yourself,” Ben pointed out. “When are you having that? Do you know yet?”
“I have platelet transfusions regularly, but I need to have a bone marrow transplant and stem cells,” John revealed. “And for that, you need to have a perfect match, and at the moment, they haven’t been able to find a perfect match.”
John revealed the closest match they’d discovered was someone residing in Japan. “A long way away,” Ben observed before commending John: “You are brilliant.”
