TV star Alison Hammond tells Closer how she achieved her jaw-dropping body transformation

There’s no denying that Alison Hammond looks incredible. The TV presenter has wowed fans with her impressive weight loss in recent months – and she tells Closer that she’s dropped a staggering 13st 7lbs in total.
‘I’ve lost a lot of weight. I can remember being nearly 30st, and now I’m in the 17 – 16½st range,’ she reveals. Detailing her fitness regime, she explains, ‘I’ve got a personal trainer – she’s amazing. She trains me when I can train. If I’m working, I don’t train, I’ll go for a walk. But when I’m at home, I’ll go and have a session with her in the morning, just an hour. It might be four days a week.’ And when it comes to her diet, Alison doesn’t restrict herself, adding, ‘I don’t deny myself anything. I eat everything, but in moderation.’
Unsurprisingly, she’s been inundated with compliments over her new look. ‘It’s the weirdest thing, going out in the street and people coming up to me when they’ve never met me before and saying, “You look amazing!”’ she says.

Alison – who had a gastric band fitted in 2007, but had it removed three years later after her body rejected it – has been open about her challenges with weight loss in the past. Speaking in 2022, she said, ‘I’ve had obesity my whole life. And what it is, is your regulation system is out of whack. So obviously, you can’t control wanting to eat all the time. And I think what a lot of people don’t realise is obesity is a disease.’
Alison admits that she still faces challenges now, adding that she feels it’s ‘dangerous’ to give others advice. ‘It’s always different for every single person,’ she says. ‘If anyone is struggling, go and speak to a doctor or someone who knows about diet. I’m the last person to get advice from, because I’ve struggled all my life. And I still struggle.’
Despite this, she reveals she’s currently in a great place. ‘I feel amazing,’ she smiles. ‘I feel happy within myself.’ And after turning 50 in February, Alison has no qualms about hitting the milestone. ‘It’s no different to the last decade. It’s exactly the same,’ she insists. ‘It just feels like I’ve been waiting in the queue at the Post Office a little bit longer than someone younger than me. There’s no difference in the queue, everything is exactly the same and you still see the same scenery, it’s just that I’ve been there longer.’

A big part of Alison’s happiness comes down to the man in her life, boyfriend David Putman. She’s been dating the 27-year-old Russian masseur and model since 2023 after booking a massage therapy session, and the pair have gone from strength to strength ever since – even sparking engagement rumours.
While Alison – who is mum to son Aidan, 20, with ex-fiancé Noureddine Boufaied – has shut down the speculation, she hasn’t ruled out getting married. ‘I’d never say no,’ she tells us, before jokingly adding, ‘I might marry myself!’
She continues, ‘I don’t like to go into detail about him because it’s my private life, and I want to respect his life as well. But you know I’m loved-up. Everyone knows!’ How does he feel about her being in the limelight? ‘He loves it. He just supports me,’ she says. ‘Anybody who I bring into my life supports me and whatever I do. They’re so happy for me.’

As one of TV’s most in-demand stars with a string of A-list pals, Alison certainly wouldn’t be short of people to invite to her wedding. In fact, Closer previously reported that she was struggling when it comes to planning the guest list for her future nuptials. A source told us last month, ‘Of course, it would start with her Big Brother pals, her This Morning family, and then people from all the other shows she works on. She would also feel obliged to invite some other stars who she is close to, like Noel Fielding, Prue Leith, Mel B and Amanda Holden. The list is almost endless.’
Meanwhile, as her love life continues to blossom, so does her career. The star – who shot to fame on Big Brother in 2002 – hosts This Morning alongside Dermot O’Leary every Friday, as well as The Great British Bake Off and For The Love Of Dogs. And this week, she’s back on our screens with her brand-new show, Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend, where she spends 48 hours with some of the UK’s biggest celebrities, including Sir Lenny Henry, Perrie Edwards, Jimmy Carr, Mel B, Luke Evans and Tony Bellew.

‘You really get to see a different side to all of the stars, stuff that you would never see, like them arguing with their mum or bantering with their kids or partner. And you get to see what their passions are and what they love doing,’ she says.
And when it comes to her future goals and aspirations, she says, ‘I just want to keep doing things that make me happy. Spending time with friends and family and enjoying life.’
Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend starts Friday 16 May at 8.30pm on BBC One
