Katie Price has raised alarm bells once again after confessing on social media that she’s hooked on vaping. Sharing a disturbing X-ray image of a damaged lung on her Instagram stories, which came with the stark warning: “Vaping has officially been linked to rare and irreversible lung disease”, Katie added her own plea, “I have to stop.”

Given that lung disease runs in the reality star’s family, those closest to the mum-of-five are especially worried about her vaping addiction. Katie’s mum Amy, 73, has been fighting terminal Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) – a condition that scars the lungs and makes breathing progressively harder – for several years, and she had a lung transplant in 2022.

However, Katie, who was photographed vaping on a train last year and was even caught using one of the devices during her recent live tour with mate Kerry Katona, has found it difficult to kick the habit so far.
“Katie needs to stop for health reasons and, obviously, her family members have been very worried,” an insider reveals. “But she’s so stressed and it [vaping] is simply her way of releasing that stress. “It’s also very addictive and as we know, Katie’s got a very addictive personality.

Katie’s partner of almost two years, former Married At First Sight star JJ Slater, is reportedly deeply concerned but feels powerless to help the headstrong celebrity.
“JJ is concerned about her, but there’s only so much he can do,” reveals our source. “Katie’s under severe stress and just has one thing after another to contend with. He really does love her, but she has got her own mind and sadly, with the vaping, it has become a real habit for her, reports the Mirror.
This isn’t the first occasion Katie’s vaping has raised concerns amongst those close to her. Back in October 2023, her sister Sophie, who co-hosts Katie’s podcast, The Katie Price Show, pleaded, “Can you stop vaping please?” during one episode.

Then in November 2024, the television personality sparked controversy when she was caught on camera vaping on a train – despite the practice being prohibited on most rail services.
By March this year, it seemed her sister’s plea had gone unheeded as Katie faced online backlash after being photographed vaping near her four-month-old niece, Olive. Subsequently, two months ago, supporters alleged the star was even vaping during a stage performance, with one observer commenting, “She hid behind a cushion, vaping with stress because her children were there, which meant she couldn’t host the show properly. “

Should Katie attempt to kick the harmful habit, it wouldn’t be her maiden effort. She’d previously vowed to give it up a couple of years back, even claiming that vaping had caused one of her teeth to fall out.”
I am going to stop it because I don’t know why I do it,” she admitted during an episode of her popular podcast. “It’s this new, social thing where everyone vapes. I don’t normally like to be a follower, I am usually a leader. “
Katie’s boyfriend of nearly two years, former Married At First Sight contestant JJ Slater, is said to be particularly worried but feels unable to help the strong-willed star.

After revealing that one of her teeth had recently fallen out, she suggested that vaping might be responsible. “I swear it is the vape because I put it here – it’s on the tooth that came out,” she explained. “So I wonder if that is what made my tooth fall out?

“Given Katie’s worries about her mum Amy, whose condition has sometimes left her requiring a wheelchair, it’s understandable that she’s concerned by vaping’s potential links to lung disease.Speaking earlier this year on The Katie Price Show, Katie opened up about how Amy has lost her independence due to her illness, saying, “She can’t do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her.”
However, it appears the more challenges Katie faces, the more she relies on vaping. “Whenever she’s feeling stressed, she reaches for the vape,” says our source. “So it’s going to be hard to keep away from them. “She’s worried because of what happened to her mum – her mum is so ill and has to carry around oxygen.”

In September, another insider close to Katie described vaping as her “vice”, adding, “Katie can’t live without one and it’s always in the form of addiction. “It’s never healthy, and currently it’s vaping. It’s driven by her addictive nature, and her family are all worried that without getting her help, things could get serious.”
The star has already faced a series of health challenges this year. In September, New Magazine reported that Katie ended up in hospital after accidentally stabbing herself while cooking a curry. She has also sought medical advice for her recent weight loss, sharing with fans on Snapchat: “The reason I’m going to the doctors is because I keep losing weight and I don’t know why. So that’s that.”
Despite these hurdles, insiders believe Katie’s loved ones are optimistic she can overcome her vaping struggle, stating, “It’s something that they’re hoping she will be able to eventually crack. “.
